Mr. Nguyen Ba Tu - the teacher who inspired many students to conquer the international Physics arena at Lam Son High School for the Gifted (Thanh Hoa)
The teacher ignites passion
Teacher Nguyen Ba Tu was born in 1981, in a commune along the Ma River, old Thanh Hoa City (now Ham Rong Ward, Thanh Hoa Province). Since childhood, student Nguyen Ba Tu dreamed of one day becoming a teacher, passing on his passion to future generations of students.
That dream has haunted Mr. Tu throughout his school years, is the motivation and inspiration for him to overcome difficulties in life, realize his ambition of becoming a teacher and achieve the glory he has today.
After finishing high school, Mr. Tu passed the entrance exam for Physics Pedagogy at Hong Duc University. In 2005, he graduated and was assigned to teach at Ba Thuoc High School, one of the highland and disadvantaged schools in Thanh Hoa at that time.

Two years later, he was transferred to Nong Cong 3 High School (formerly Nong Cong district). Here, he has made constant efforts, helping many generations of students in this lowland area achieve success in their studies. Notably, during the years of Mr. Tu's work, the school had 55 students winning provincial-level excellent student awards and 3 students winning national awards.
Entering the 2020 school year, Mr. Nguyen Ba Tu was transferred to Lam Son High School for the Gifted, one of the prestigious specialized schools in Thanh Hoa province and one of the top specialized schools in the country.
At the new school, with his passion and creative teaching methods, Mr. Tu has led many of his students to excellently conquer prestigious Physics medals in international competitions.
During the 2021-2024 period, Mr. Nguyen Ba Tu directly trained 4 students to win international and regional medals. Notably, in 2024, 1 student won a Silver Medal at the International Physics Olympiad, 1 student won a Silver Medal and 2 students won Bronze Medals at the Asia- Pacific Physics Olympiad.
At national competitions for excellent students, from 2021 to now, Mr. Tu has trained 16 students to win prizes, including 1 first prize, 9 second prizes, many of whom have entered the international Olympic selection round. At the provincial level, there are 20 provincial excellent student awards, including many first prizes. At competitions for excellent students in the coastal region, the Northern Delta and the Natural Science Olympiad, students trained by him have also won 13 Gold Medals and 10 Silver Medals.

In addition to teaching, from 2019 to 2024, every year teacher Nguyen Ba Tu has had initiatives and experiences that have been highly evaluated and ranked by the Education Science Council.
With his achievements, in 2020, Mr. Nguyen Ba Tu was honored to receive a Certificate of Merit from the Prime Minister; in 2024, he won the title of National Outstanding Teacher and many Certificates of Merit from the Ministry of Education and Training; was a typical example of Thanh Hoa province in the period of 2020-2025, and was awarded a Certificate of Merit by the Chairman of Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee...
"Just be yourself, you are a winner"
According to Mr. Tu, Physics is a subject that requires scientific thinking, logic and high concentration. Therefore, in the teaching process, he always tries to make the subject not a burden but a source of inspiration for students. With that in mind, Mr. Tu is always proactive in searching for and translating advanced documents, building detailed study plans and always updating new teaching methods.
"Cultivating excellent students is a long journey, requiring both teachers and students to be passionate, dedicated, and maintain the "fire" in the learning process. I am always ready to listen, accompany, share knowledge and difficulties with students, becoming a trusted companion on the journey to conquer intellectual heights" - Mr. Tu confided.

According to Mr. Tu, Lam Son Specialized High School is closely cared for by the province and the Department of Education and Training, has dedicated teachers and intelligent students. However, the work of nurturing excellent students also faces many difficulties and challenges. The content of the exams is constantly being renewed, requiring teachers to self-study and research constantly.
Sharing his journey to bring home international medals, Mr. Nguyen Ba Tu said that during that journey, he and his students encountered many difficulties. However, those difficulties motivated him to find solutions to help his students achieve the best results.
"Talking about difficulties, the first is the pressure of time and the amount of knowledge. With the international arena, the amount of knowledge is very large, and there is only 2 years to equip and prepare all the conditions to participate. To achieve results, from the beginning, I myself built a plan and a systematic training roadmap, suitable for each stage.
I also pay great attention to students' self-study and self-improvement. Especially, I regularly innovate teaching methods, so that each solution and each difficult problem becomes simple for students" - Mr. Tu confided.

According to Mr. Tu, the next difficulty is the students' learning conditions. Because Physics is an experimental subject, while schools, even Lam Son High School for the Gifted, do not have enough experiments to serve national and international training, so he always builds and connects students to experiments, avoiding losing regrettable points.
"The psychological pressure on the students is also a difficulty, because they are all very young, when participating in major exams, they have to shoulder the expectations of their parents, teachers, and schools. This is a task that I pay a lot of attention to, so at each stage, each difficult problem, I always closely follow and accompany the students. And before each exam, I always tell the students that, as long as they are themselves, they are already winners" - Mr. Tu shared.
The personal achievements of teacher Nguyen Ba Tu are always associated with the overall success of Lam Son High School for the Gifted. In the 2023-2024 school year, the school ranked first nationwide in the National Excellent Student Competition, with Physics alone contributing 1 first prize, 4 second prizes, 3 third prizes, 2 Encouragement prizes and 1 international medal. In the 2024-2025 school year, the school's overall achievements in the National Excellent Student Competition ranked sixth nationwide, with the Physics team contributing 2 second prizes, 7 third prizes and 1 Encouragement prize.
