Previously, the entire 8 sao of mixed garden land of Ms. Nguyen Thi Thoa, Lac Thanh Bac village was left fallow, overgrown with grass. But since the Cooperative guided me to reclaim land, prepare the soil and plant plants such as mint, stevia, dandelion, etc., this mixed garden has now become a medicinal garden with high economic value. Ms. Nguyen Thi Thoa shared: "In early 2024, the Cooperative guided me and provided me with seedlings to grow medicinal plants. After more than a year of planting and caring, I have harvested two batches of fresh medicinal plants, all of which were supplied to the Cooperative and earned nearly 70 million VND. Thanks to growing medicinal plants, I have turned the abandoned garden into a place that can bring in the main income for my family." Many households previously grew crops such as cucumbers and cabbage, but with low income. Since switching to growing medicinal plants to sell to the Cooperative, the economic efficiency has been much higher. Every three months, medicinal herbs are harvested. Every step from planting, caring to harvesting is meticulously guided by the cooperative.
Hoang Luong Nam Duoc Cooperative was established with the following business lines: Production of medicine, therapeutic chemicals, growing spices, medicinal plants, breeding and caring for annual seedlings, tea production, milling and producing raw powder, wholesaling agricultural and forestry raw materials (except wood, bamboo, rattan). This is the first traditional medicinal cooperative in the old Tien Hai district, actively contributing to the development of the local economy, creating more jobs and income for people through connecting households to work together and develop medicinal products. Currently, the cooperative has 45 members with a total medicinal plant growing area of up to 50 hectares in some communes of Tien Hai, Nam Cuong, Dong Tien Hai. The medicinal plants grown are very diverse such as: Honeysuckle, Solanum procumbens, Dandelion, Andrographis paniculata, Desmodium styracifolium, Black-bone, Phyllanthus urinaria... Mr. Hoang Van Luong, Director and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Cooperative said: In 2019, after graduating from Tue Tinh Medical College, Hanoi , majoring in traditional medicine, I chose to return to open an oriental medicine clinic in my hometown.

During the treatment of patients, I had the idea of turning common medicinal herbs into healthy drinks and from there researched and successfully produced herbal teas. With the desire to help people in my hometown have more stable jobs and higher income, I established a cooperative to connect with households growing medicinal herbs. When joining the cooperative, members will plant, care for, and harvest medicinal plants on their family's land and we will purchase fresh medicinal products for processing.
The Cooperative has many products, notably: Cordyceps brown rice tea, Ganoderma lucidum tea, green bean pennywort powder (these products have 3-star OCOP certification). The Cooperative is building two more OCOP products including dragon blood massage oil and herbal foot bath powder. In addition to traditional sales through agents and stores, the Cooperative also sells products through e-commerce platforms, builds livestream rooms to introduce and sell products online. Thanks to the multi-channel distribution system, the Cooperative's products quickly reach the market, are known and trusted by consumers across the country. Mr. Hoang Van Luong added: I have just completed a modern-scale medicinal herb processing factory, ensuring standards of hygiene, safety and environmental protection. Putting the factory into operation not only better serves the need for processing and developing products from clean and safe medicinal herbs, but also contributes to improving the competitiveness of the cooperative in the market, aiming to build a national medicinal herb brand, associated with geographical indications and clear origin.
With the will and desire to start a business and get rich on his homeland, along with scientific knowledge, passion and desire of youth, Mr. Hoang Van Luong and Hoang Luong Nam Duoc Cooperative have been successfully building a model of linking the production of medicinal plants, contributing to the socio-economic development of the locality.
