Aiming to promote the strengths and resources of large state-owned enterprises, especially in the energy sector, on April 10, the Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group ( Petrovietnam ) and the Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Group (TKV) signed a comprehensive cooperation agreement.

Some key cooperation contents between Petrovietnam and TKV have been agreed by both sides such as: Prioritizing the use of products, goods and services that are the strengths of each side; coordinating the use of shared infrastructure, investing to improve the efficiency of the energy value chain; researching new products suitable for green and sustainable development trends; science and technology and digital transformation; management and high-quality human resources between the two Groups.
Immediately after the signing ceremony, the two Groups and their member units actively coordinated and researched the implementation of cooperation contents between the parties. Petrovietnam and its member units (PVOIL, PVFCCo, PVChem, PVTrans, PVI, PVcomBank, PVMR...) organized a working session with TKV and its member units on June 23, 2025 to discuss and identify 7 groups of implementation contents to concretize cooperation between the parties. At the same time, the units of the two Groups also proactively contacted, worked directly and conducted field surveys to research and identify cooperation opportunities and appropriate implementation solutions.
After a period of implementing the cooperation agreement between Petrovietnam and TKV, the two sides have achieved some positive results, but mainly stopped at commercial trading activities. Through exchanges and coordination, Petrovietnam and TKV have studied solutions to expand cooperation, from fuel supply, logistics, insurance - finance to chemicals, technical services, mechanical engineering. With a series of initial results, the relationship between Petrovietnam and TKV has gone from signing a framework to more substantial and extensive implementation, aiming at linking the energy - mineral - material chain as a foundation for national industry.

Speaking at the meeting, Petrovietnam General Director Le Ngoc Son emphasized that Petrovietnam and TKV are two state-owned economic groups, playing a pivotal role in ensuring national energy security. General Director Le Ngoc Son assessed that the initial results of cooperation have shown many "good signals" that need to be focused on promoting in the coming time. In particular, continuing to promote "traditional" cooperation such as providing products and services to TKV such as: gasoline, LPG/CNG, green fuel conversion projects, maintenance and repair services, transportation, carbon credits, banking and finance, and insurance...
Along with that, promote coordination in research and development of new projects/products, application of gas-coal blending technology, emission reduction for power plants, seabed mineral exploitation, construction of industrial-energy ecosystems associated with supporting industrial zones; cooperation in management, application of science and technology, innovation, digital transformation as well as investment cooperation, trade and purchase of other metal and chemical products, and closely coordinate with TKV to research and propose to remove legal bottlenecks, aiming at development cooperation in the mining sector of the two sides.
Petrovietnam General Director Le Ngoc Son requested the Deputy General Directors assigned to each field to direct the specialized departments and member units of Petrovietnam to focus on accelerating the progress of specific coordination work, bringing about real results for both sides. At the same time, Petrovietnam General Director pledged to continue promoting the increasingly effective cooperation relationship between Petrovietnam and TKV, contributing to ensuring energy security and socio-economic development of the country.

TKV General Director Vu Anh Tuan affirmed that the cooperation between Petrovietnam and TKV is completely in line with the trend when in the current volatile market context, state-owned corporations are required to have connections to cooperate and develop together.
On this occasion, on behalf of TKV leaders, General Director Vu Anh Tuan also congratulated Petrovietnam on the results and achievements over the past half century, making an important contribution to the country's economic development. In the spirit of comprehensive cooperation, for the common development goal, TKV leaders pledged to actively exchange and share experiences, taking advantage of the two Groups' advantages to most effectively implement the cooperation agreement between the two sides, for the goal of accompanying the country into a new era of development.
