An Giang and Takeo strengthen comprehensive cooperation

On the afternoon of November 7, at the conference hall of the Office of the People's Committee of An Giang province, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of An Giang province Le Van Phuoc and Mr. Ly Saveth, Deputy Governor of Takeo province (Kingdom of Cambodia) co-chaired the conference to review the results of cooperation in the first 6 months of 2025 and the direction of cooperation for the next year between An Giang province and Takeo province.

Speaking at the conference, on the occasion of the 72nd anniversary of the National Day of the Kingdom of Cambodia (November 9, 1953 - November 9, 2025), on behalf of the People's Committee of An Giang province, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of An Giang province Le Van Phuoc respectfully sent to the Deputy Governor, delegates of Takeo province and all Cambodian people best wishes; wishing the country and people of Cambodia to continue to achieve even greater achievements in the cause of national construction and development.

Vice Chairman of An Giang Provincial People's Committee Le Van Phuoc assessed that, in recent times, with the close cooperation of departments and branches of both sides, the two provinces have effectively implemented the signed contents since the 2024 Cooperation Summary Conference held in Takeo province. Thereby, contributing to socio-economic development, improving the lives of people on both sides, especially border residents, contributing to building a stable, peaceful , friendly and cooperative Vietnam - Cambodia border for mutual development...

The conference agreed that in the first 6 months of 2025, the two provinces of An Giang and Takeo have carried out cooperation well in all fields. An Giang and Takeo have 37 common border markers, from marker 254 to marker 290. The two sides strictly implement all relevant border treaties and agreements signed between the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Kingdom of Cambodia.

The two sides have effectively implemented the cooperation plan in preventing and combating cross-border crimes, maintained regular and ad hoc information exchanges; coordinated bilateral patrols; managed and protected border markers, ensuring the stability and clarity of the land border; and promptly prevented activities that cause damage or affect border markers and border identification signs.

An Giang province successfully organized the Tinh Bien - An Giang International Trade Fair 2025, with the participation of delegates, officials and businesses of Takeo province, including supporting 15 booths for Takeo province to display, introduce and sell products.

The total import-export turnover in the first 6 months of 2025 through Tinh Bien - Phnom Den International Border Gate and Vinh Hoi Dong - Kampong Krosang Main Border Gate between An Giang province and Takeo province is estimated to reach over 500 million USD.

During the 2024 - 2025 dry season, Team K93 (An Giang Provincial Military Command) searched for and recovered 15 sets of remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts in Takeo province. Since 2001, Team K93 has recovered 817 sets of remains of martyrs in Takeo and organized a ceremony to repatriate the remains back to Vietnam.

The conference was a great success.

At the conference, An Giang and Takeo provinces agreed on the direction of cooperation for the next year, cooperation in the fields of security and order on the border; border management and border marker protection; agriculture, forestry, fishery and trade; education, youth, culture, sports, tourism and health; transportation; work of the Fatherland Front, mass organizations and people's foreign affairs; cooperation between border localities; and the search and recovery of remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers in Cambodia.

The two sides agreed to prepare documents to request the two governments to allow the opening of the Vinh Gia - Ta O sub-border gate pair, and continue to discuss and reach an agreement to request permission to open the Vinh Nguon - Kompong Krosang sub-border gate. An Giang province prepared documents to request the Vietnamese government to upgrade the Bac Dai - Bak Dai sub-border gate to the main border gate, in order to facilitate trade activities between the people of the two sides...
