On the afternoon of November 11 in Viet Tri (Phu Tho), Nguyen Xuan Son officially returned to the Vietnam national team and participated in the first training session, while the team prepared for the match against Laos in the second leg of the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers.
In an interview before the training session, Xuan Son said: "Today is a special day because I have returned to the Vietnam national team after 11 months of absence. Returning to wear the national team jersey after such a long time makes me happy. My family has supported me a lot."
He continued: "Coach Kim Sang Sik created conditions and welcomed me back to the team this time. My teammates were also happy to see me back. I told coach Kim and my teammates to thank everyone for waiting. It is my honor to help the team and contribute to the Vietnamese flag."
The most important thing right now is whether coach Kim Sang Sik will let Nguyen Xuan Son play in the match against Laos on November 19, and if so, will he be able to play at the same level as before?
"I have recovered 100% and am able to play a full match without fear of risk. Now I am ready to give my best performance. I have been working hard to regain my form for nearly a year," Xuan Son shared.
He continued: "I don't know how likely I am to play in the Laos match, because it depends on Coach Kim's decision. I am always ready to play the whole match, not only the Laos match but also the other matches.
If I get to play against Laos, I will enjoy it. I will try to score or assist, but the most important thing is that the Vietnamese team wins."
Finally, Xuan Son said he was very grateful for the fans' support and would try his best to help the Vietnamese team maintain hopes of winning a ticket to the 2027 Asian Cup finals, as well as conquer future goals in regional and continental arenas.
