Flexible adaptation

For many years, Bac Dau Company Limited has been a trusted partner of customers in many Asian countries such as China, Korea, Thailand. Especially in the field of processing high value-added products such as squid sausage, shrimp sausage, mackerel sausage... and refined ingredients to produce familiar products to Asian consumers such as crab sticks.

Ms. Tran Thi Hong Thu, CEO of Bac Dau Company Limited said: "In addition to exporting to international markets, in the past two years we have focused on processed products for the domestic market as people's demand for processed seafood products is increasing.

If in the past, Bac Dau specialized in exporting raw products, now it has the capacity to produce deeply processed products with high added value. This helps businesses increase revenue and profit as well as conquer demanding markets.

At D&N Food Processing Company Limited (Danifoods), investing in a production line to deeply process products with high added value not only helps the business exploit new markets such as Muslim countries but also increases competitiveness with other countries with strong seafood processing and export industries.

The story of maintaining stable export activities, increasing the presence and market share of Da Nang's seafood products in the international market as well as gradually establishing a solid foothold at home shows the fundamental progress and great potential of this industry.

At the same time, it demonstrates the flexibility and ability to quickly adapt of seafood businesses to challenges in technical barriers and fishing standards, which have been detrimental to the industry in recent times.

In recent times, the seafood products of Da Nang city (old) have not only maintained their traditional markets such as Japan, Korea, EU and the US, but have also expanded to new markets such as the Middle East and South America. Meanwhile, Quang Nam province has markets such as Australia, Korea, Japan, Hong Kong (China), and Thailand.

The Department of Industry and Trade said that in recent times, seafood export activities of Da Nang city have maintained stable growth and continue to be one of the locality's key export groups.

Business support

Information on the current status of aquaculture production in Da Nang city shows that the total aquaculture area in the whole area is 8,290 hectares, of which brackish water farming is 3,133 hectares (white-leg shrimp farming is 2,673 hectares), freshwater farming is 5,157 hectares.

In addition, cage fish farming on saltwater and brackish water rivers (yellowfin pomfret, silver pomfret, red snapper, sea bass) includes 2,720 cages (50-70m3/cage); cage fish farming on rivers, irrigation and hydroelectric reservoirs is about 600 cages (60-75m3/cage), the main fish farming groups are tilapia (red tilapia) and traditional farming species (grass carp, bighead carp, bighead carp, common carp), snakehead fish, catfish and some other aquatic specialties such as eel, catfish and frogs...

The average annual aquaculture output is about 30,000-35,000 tons. Estimated aquaculture output in 2025 is 29,344 tons. Accumulated from the beginning of the year to November 7, 43 export certificates have been issued to the EU with a total volume of 437.58 tons of goods.

In general, seafood continues to be an important export industry, contributing significantly to the city's total export turnover and is a bright spot in the development strategy of the agricultural and fishery sector, aiming for sustainable export value and high quality.

However, despite being a key export product group, making an important contribution to the city's export turnover, the seafood production industry is facing many challenges in terms of input costs, markets, technology, human resources and expanding export markets.

In the face of such difficulties, the Department of Industry and Trade coordinated with relevant agencies to implement many key solutions such as: enhancing market information and international trade policies for businesses; focusing on disseminating new regulations, consumption trends and technical barriers..., helping businesses proactively adjust production and export.

At the same time, promote propaganda through electronic information portals, conferences, and seminars on technological innovation, digital transformation, and sustainable development. In addition, organize trade promotion programs, participate in domestic and international fairs and exhibitions, introduce products, connect trade, and focus on key markets suitable to the potential of each product.

The Department also organizes training and guidance on technical standards and import-export regulations; organizes training courses and guidance on technical standards and import-export regulations, as well as on free trade agreements (FTAs) that Vietnam participates in, helping businesses grasp their rights and obligations and take advantage of export opportunities.

In the new trend, the industry organizes specialized training courses on cross-border e-commerce, helping businesses improve their supply chain management capacity, optimize export costs and expand domestic and international consumption channels.

According to the Department of Industry and Trade, with the above synchronous solutions, the Da Nang seafood industry is expected to continue to maintain its role as a key export industry, increase the value of goods and income for workers, and move towards sustainable development and high added value in the coming time.
