Mr. Nguyen Duc Trung is Chairman of Hanoi

On the afternoon of November 13, the Hanoi People's Council dismissed Mr. Tran Sy Thanh from the position of Chairman of the City People's Committee because he was assigned by the Politburo to hold the position of Chairman of the Central Inspection Committee .

On the same afternoon, with the majority of delegates present in agreement, the Hanoi People's Council elected Mr. Nguyen Duc Trung, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, to hold the position of Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee for the 2021-2026 term.

Previously, the Politburo decided to transfer and appoint Mr. Nguyen Duc Trung to join the Party Executive Committee, the Standing Committee of the Hanoi Party Committee, to hold the position of Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee, term 2025-2030.

Mr. Nguyen Duc Trung was born on March 21, 1974, in Thanh Hoa province. He has a Master's degree in economics.

Mr. Trung worked for a long time at the Ministry of Planning and Investment (formerly) and held positions such as Director of the Department of Organization and Personnel, Director of the Department of Local and Territorial Economy, and Director of the Department of Infrastructure and Urban Areas.

From January 2019 to February 2020, he held the position of Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment.

From March 2020 to November 2024, he held the position of Chairman of the People's Committee of Nghe An province. On November 11, 2024, he was elected to hold the position of Secretary of the Nghe An Provincial Party Committee.
