According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health , in the context of the locality developing according to the multi-polar multi-center mega-urban model, Vung Tau General Hospital is determined to have a strategic position in terms of health.
This place is not only a healthcare center for more than half a million local residents and a large number of tourists , but also undertakes the task of researching and implementing marine medicine in the near future.
Vung Tau General Hospital was newly invested and put into operation in 2022 with a scale of 420 beds, 24 departments, 600 medical staff and workers. Currently, the Hospital is still facing many difficulties in developing specialties to meet the medical examination and treatment needs of local people.
The signing of cooperation and comprehensive support agreements between Ho Chi Minh City's end-level hospitals to help improve the capacity of Vung Tau General Hospital is a very important step to standardize professional capacity, improve management, and increase the hospital's autonomy in handling serious cases.
This also contributes to creating a multi-polar, uniform quality healthcare system in Ho Chi Minh City in the new situation.

At the signing ceremony, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health assigned Gia Dinh People's Hospital the role of "core", along with 7 specialized hospitals to focus on implementing 2 groups of tasks.
Firstly, support professional development and technology transfer for Vung Tau Hospital. Specifically, Gia Dinh People's Hospital supports the development of specialties in Emergency, Resuscitation, Internal Medicine - Surgery, Anesthesia, Artificial Kidney, Diagnostic Imaging, Rehabilitation, and Pathology for the above facility.
Children's Hospital 2 supports Pediatrics, focusing on Pediatric Resuscitation and Neonatal Resuscitation; Tu Du Hospital supports Obstetrics, prioritizing emergency care and training on-site staff; Orthopedic Trauma Hospital supports training in related specialties to improve trauma emergency care capacity;
Binh Dan Hospital supports Vung Tau Hospital in training in some fields of Surgery; ENT Hospital, Eye Hospital, and Ho Chi Minh City Hospital of Dentistry and Maxillofacial Surgery support specialized training from basic to advanced levels, considering in-depth development suitable to reality.
Second, support the construction of a modern hospital management model.
Gia Dinh People's Hospital is assigned to support Vung Tau General Hospital in standardizing human resource management, quality and risk management, accompanying the above facility in the development roadmap to become a grade 1 hospital, supporting digital transformation, towards building a smart hospital.
The leaders of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health expect that Vung Tau General Hospital will soon become a new medical center of the locality, meeting the needs of high-quality medical examination and treatment for the coastal urban population, a hospital with the capacity to handle emergencies, deploy many specialized techniques, and minimize referrals.
From there, this will be a model of linkage between nuclear hospitals and satellite hospitals in the multi-polar health system of Ho Chi Minh City.
Previously, on November 10, the second facility of Tu Du Hospital with the model of a joint general hospital officially came into operation in Can Gio area.
This is a public general hospital using the existing infrastructure of the Can Gio District Medical Center (old) managed by Tu Du Hospital, closely linked with many leading general and specialized hospitals in Ho Chi Minh City, to serve the people in Can Gio and neighboring areas.
