At the signing ceremony, the Department of Health assigned Gia Dinh People's Hospital as the core hospital along with 7 specialized hospitals of the city (Children's Hospital 2, Tu Du, Orthopedic Trauma, Binh Dan, Eye, Ear, Nose, Throat, Dentistry) to focus on supporting professional development and transferring techniques to Vung Tau General Hospital.
In addition, Gia Dinh People's Hospital is assigned to support Vung Tau General Hospital in standardizing human resource management, quality management, risk management, accompanying Vung Tau General Hospital in the development roadmap to become a Grade I hospital, supporting digital transformation towards building a smart hospital.
According to Associate Professor, Doctor, Doctor Tang Chi Thuong, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health, in the context of the city developing according to the multi-polar, multi-center mega-urban model, the health sector has determined that Vung Tau General Hospital has a strategic position in terms of health, both as a healthcare fulcrum for more than half a million local residents and a large number of tourists , and also undertaking the task of researching and implementing marine health in the near future.

The signing of cooperation and comprehensive support agreements between the city's end-level hospitals to help improve the capacity of Vung Tau General Hospital is an important step to standardize professional capacity, improve hospital management, increase autonomy in handling serious cases, and contribute to creating a multi-polar health system with uniform quality for the whole of Ho Chi Minh City in the new situation.
"Vung Tau General Hospital will soon become the city's new medical pole, meeting the needs of high-quality medical examination and treatment for coastal urban residents. It is a hospital with the capacity to handle emergencies, deploy many specialized techniques, minimize referrals, and be a model for the connection between nuclear hospitals and satellite hospitals in the city's multi-polar medical system," Associate Professor, Dr. Chi Thuong hopes.
Vung Tau General Hospital was newly invested and put into operation in 2022 with a scale of 420 beds, 24 departments, 600 medical staff and workers. Currently, the Hospital is still facing many difficulties in developing specialties to meet the medical examination and treatment needs of local people.
