Recently, Ms. LTX (born in 1954, residing in Thu Duc Ward) went to medical point No. 2 of Thu Duc Ward Medical Station for a periodic health check-up for the elderly. This is a program that the Ho Chi Minh City health sector has been implementing in recent times.

As soon as she entered the gate of the medical facility, Ms. X was warmly and happily welcomed by the medical staff. After completing the admission procedures, measuring her blood pressure, weight, and height, Ms. X continued to have her blood sample taken for testing because it had been several years since she had had a general health check-up. Ms. X was given a breakfast by a pharmacist at the medical facility, including a savory dish and a banana for dessert. These breakfasts have been cooked and supported by benefactors for the medical facility to give to people coming to see a doctor for more than a year now, so that people can stabilize their health and continue the medical examination process (because people coming to see a doctor often skip breakfast).

In the ultrasound room, Dr. Dao Thi My Lien and the nursing assistant worked almost nonstop because the number of people coming in increased. With decades of experience (thanks to being a retired doctor, invited back to support the medical station during the recent Covid-19 epidemic), Dr. Lien performed the ultrasound procedure while chatting and asking questions, making the atmosphere in the room warm and friendly.

In the final step, before leaving, at the clinic, Dr. Vo Bach Bao Tram examined and enthusiastically advised, guiding people to follow the instructions and ways to maintain health in daily activities. Dr. Tram is a practitioner at Thu Duc medical station according to the practice program at the hospital associated with the medical station. More than a year ago, after receiving her practice certificate, Dr. Tram volunteered to stay and work at this medical station.

Thu Duc Ward Health Station (consisting of 3 health stations) has a total of 3 doctors. In addition to Dr. Pham Huy Hoang, the Station Chief, there are also Dr. Vo Bach Bao Tram and Dr. Tran Duy Hung. Like Dr. Tram, Dr. Hung also participated in the internship program at the hospital attached to the health station. After receiving his practice certificate, at the end of August, Dr. Hung registered with the City Health Department, volunteered to work at the health station and was assigned to Thu Duc Ward Health Station.

Doctor Hoang said: Since the Health Station signed a contract to provide medical examination and treatment with health insurance (end of 2024) until now, and has young doctors working, the number of people coming to see a doctor has increased. Not only is it close to home, many people have trusted the Health Station more because the Station has all the essential medicines, and the doctors are friendly and affectionate.

Specialist II Doctor Tran Thanh Sang, Director of Thu Duc Regional Medical Center said: The unit is managing 12 medical stations with a total of 32 medical points. Of which, there are currently 9 medical stations with 17 medical points that are examining and treating patients with health insurance. In the coming time, Thu Duc Regional Medical Center will strive to deploy medical examination and treatment with health insurance at all medical points, so that people in the area can receive health care, especially those with chronic non-communicable diseases.

In the immediate future, the Center will prioritize the implementation of medical examination and treatment with health insurance at 3 medical stations in Tang Nhon Phu, Long Phuoc, and An Khanh, ensuring that each station has at least 1 medical examination and treatment point with health insurance. Doctor Sang added: Although all 32 medical stations have doctors, if calculated by the number of doctors per population, there is still a shortage. Therefore, newly graduated doctors volunteering to work at the medical station is meaningful and very much appreciated.

Recently, at the Ho Chi Minh City Health Sector Job Fair 2025, the Center recruited 6 young doctors; and the young doctors have brought "new vitality" to medical points.
