The "Union Meal" program is an activity organized by trade unions at all levels in coordination with unit heads and employers on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19), the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2) and the 96th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Trade Union (July 28).
This is an opportunity for the union to care for the workers, an opportunity for all parties to share and listen to their thoughts and aspirations, thereby building trust and attachment between union members and workers towards the union organization and the enterprise.
After more than 2 months of implementation, based on reports from 34 provincial and municipal labor federations and 17 central industry unions and affiliated corporation unions, according to the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor , 5,132 grassroots unions organized "Union Meals", attracting 2,171,450 union members and workers to attend and benefit.

Regarding financial resources, the General Confederation has supported 686,500,000 VND for localities facing difficulties in balancing revenue and expenditure during the year, including Lang Son and Ca Mau .
In addition, VND 2,854,815,500 was spent by provincial and municipal labor federations and central industry unions to directly support grassroots unions, while financial resources at grassroots unions contributed VND 70,862,886,915.
In addition, from other support sources such as leaders of agencies, units, business owners, employers and socialized sources, the program also received 60,981,562,991 VND.
Total expenditure for the "Union Meal" program in 2025 reached VND 148,714,603,226, according to data from the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor.
To implement the program, the Presidium of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor has issued documents directing, guiding and requesting reporting on the results of the "Union Meal" in 2025.
On that basis, 100% of provincial and municipal labor federations, central industry unions and affiliated corporations have proactively developed plans, coordinated with unit and enterprise leaders and mobilized socialized resources to organize programs simultaneously across the country, focusing on the week of the anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Trade Union and National Day.
According to Mr. Ngo Duy Hieu, Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, statistics show that in 2025, the number of grassroots unions organizing "Union Meals" will decrease, but the average amount spent on a meal will be higher (68,500 VND/meal, compared to 50,300 VND/meal in 2024), the value and quality of the meal will be significantly improved.
Therefore, the “Union Meal” in 2025 continues to be more substantial, targeting union members and workers directly involved in production and business in enterprises. In particular, the program focuses on large enterprises with a large number of employees and daily collective kitchens. Most grassroots unions have also played a good role in mobilizing and negotiating with employers to allocate resources for the “Union Meal” activity.
