[Image] Deep sand accumulation on the An Bang ancient wooden ship faces the risk of being buried again.

After its unexpected discovery, attracting public and expert attention, the hull of an ancient wooden ship found on Cua Dai beach (Hoi An) is rapidly being covered again by sand within just one week. Large waves and strong currents are carrying sand back, covering the artifact and altering its current state compared to when it was first discovered.

The wooden blocks that formed the ship's frame remained intact despite being submerged in seawater for a long time.

Local authorities have marked the ship's location with metal posts, but this measure is only temporary.

Previously, the ship had surfaced once in 2023, and experts had proposed solutions to protect the site and plan excavations to continue studying the vessel. However, while the work was underway, the ship was buried under sand again and disappeared.

As of 5:30 PM on November 13th, high waves and sand accumulation made it impossible for locals and tourists to observe the ancient shipwreck off the An Bang beach.
