Launching the Songwriting Contest on Culture, Sports and Tourism in 2025

On the afternoon of November 13, in Hanoi, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism presided over and coordinated with the Department of Performing Arts (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) and relevant units to organize the launching ceremony of the Songwriting Contest on the Culture, Sports and Tourism sector in 2025.

The contest is organized to promote the image, role and contributions of the Culture, Sports and Tourism sector in the cause of building and developing the country. Arouse the pride, sense of responsibility and love for the profession of the staff, civil servants, public employees and workers in the entire Culture, Sports and Tourism sector.

At the same time, create a playground for artistic creation, encourage musicians, artists, individuals and organizations with musical talent to participate in composing works of artistic value and positive content. Search for excellent works to serve the propaganda, performance, organization of events, cultural and political activities of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

The contest results are the basis for selecting the official propaganda song for the Industry, contributing to spreading the positive image of the Culture, Sports and Tourism Industry; promoting the image of dynamic, integrated and humane Vietnamese people.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ta Quang Dong said: The launching ceremony of the Songwriting Contest about the Culture, Sports and Tourism sector - a meaningful activity, aims to honor the values, spirit and identity of those who are day and night dedicating to the cause of "building and developing an advanced Vietnamese culture with strong national identity".

During nearly 80 years of formation and development, the Culture, Sports and Tourism sector has continuously grown, becoming one of the important pillars contributing to the spiritual, physical and soul of the Vietnamese people. Generations of cadres, civil servants, public employees, artists, athletes and workers in the whole sector have made constant efforts to bring the image of Vietnamese culture, sports and tourism far and wide, contributing to promoting the country and people of Vietnam as friendly, dynamic and creative to international friends.

According to Deputy Minister Ta Quang Dong, music always has a special power - touching the heart, arousing pride and connecting people. A good song can become a spiritual symbol, living forever, resounding in emulation movements, festivals or on stages across the country. We still remember songs that have touched people's hearts such as "The Fatherland Calls My Name", "Hanoi People", "Spring in Ho Chi Minh City"..., or songs praising soldiers, teachers, workers - the forces that make up the strength of the country.

For that reason, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism launched the Songwriting Contest about the Culture, Sports and Tourism Industry, with the desire to find new works of high artistic value and influence, praising the faith, love for the profession and the desire to contribute of the staff, civil servants, artists, athletes and workers in the entire industry. This is also an opportunity to inspire creativity among artists, create songs to accompany the industry, contributing to spreading the message: "Culture is the spiritual foundation of society, both the goal and the driving force of the country's sustainable development."

On behalf of the Ministry's leadership, Deputy Minister Ta Quang Dong hopes that professional and amateur musicians, artists, officials, civil servants, employees, and workers in the entire industry - along with all those who love Vietnamese culture, sports and tourism - will actively respond, compose, and put their emotions and passion into the entries. At the same time, he hopes to receive many rich and diverse compositions in style, from songs with folk and traditional melodies to youthful and modern compositions, expressing the industry's desire for innovation and integration in the new period.

"The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism is committed to organizing a fair, transparent and serious competition, with the participation of prestigious musicians and experts in the Jury Council, to select truly worthy works. The winning songs will be widely disseminated throughout the industry, staged and performed in major events, festivals and art programs, contributing to spreading the spirit of "Solidarity - Creativity - Development" - Deputy Minister Ta Quang Dong emphasized.

The contest is open to professional and amateur musicians who are Vietnamese citizens or foreigners living, working, studying and working in Vietnam; organizations, individuals, and the public who love music and have the ability to compose music (hereinafter referred to as authors).

Members of the Organizing Committee and the Jury are allowed to participate in composing but their works will not be considered for awards. Members of the Organizing Committee and the Jury whose works are about the Culture, Sports and Tourism sector and sent to the Organizing Committee of the contest will receive a separate award and will be selected as the song of the sector if they meet the criteria and have high artistic quality.

The contest is organized with song genres such as: Chamber music, light music, contemporary folk, jazz, rock, pop, choir, solo.

Songs submitted to the Contest must ensure content praising the tradition, role and contribution of the Culture, Sports and Tourism sector in the cause of national development. Honoring national cultural values, sports spirit, sustainable tourism, modern and integrated Vietnamese people. Arousing pride, inspiration, creativity and innovation in the whole sector. Music has beautiful melody, neat structure, new and creative style. Lyrics in Vietnamese, clear. The overall song must be a blend of music and lyrics, easy to remember and memorize.

In addition, the song must have full music and lyrics in Vietnamese, typed or handwritten clearly on A4 paper, and be sent with a CD of the recorded song (if available). The Organizing Committee of the contest is responsible for encoding the songs before sending them to the Jury to score the songs.

The song submitted to the contest is a new composition, has never been entered into any contest, and has never been published in any form. The lyrics and content of the song do not violate the nation's customs and traditions, are within the framework permitted by the laws of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, and closely follow the theme of the composition.

Regarding the award structure, the Organizing Committee will award 1 first prize, 2 second prizes, 3 third prizes and 5 consolation prizes. The Organizing Committee may adjust the award structure depending on the quality and quantity of entries. The closing and award ceremony is expected to take place on December 31, 2025 in Hanoi.

The 2025 songwriting contest on the Culture, Sports and Tourism sector will receive entries from November 13 to December 15, 2025 through the Department of Performing Arts, 32 Nguyen Thai Hoc, Ba Dinh Ward, Hanoi City../.
