Van Ban: Propaganda on forest protection work and insurance policies for forest protection forces

On the morning of November 13, the Van Ban Regional Forest Protection Department coordinated with the Van Ban Social Insurance to organize a conference to disseminate information on forest management, protection, forest fire prevention and fighting in the dry season of 2025 - 2026 and disseminate social insurance (SI) and health insurance (HI) policies to forest protection forces. More than 200 members of forest protection teams from 8 communes in the area attended the conference.

At the conference, forest rangers disseminated directives and legal regulations on forest management, protection and development; provided guidance on skills to prevent, detect, handle violations of forestry laws and respond to forest fire situations. Delegates were updated on the status of forest resources and forecasted risks of forest fires during the dry season.

Van Ban area has a total forest area of ​​over 66,900 hectares, of which natural forest is over 55,000 hectares, planted forest is nearly 12,000 hectares, with a coverage of about 68%.

In recent times, the Regional Forest Protection Department has actively coordinated with the commune authorities to promote propaganda and mobilize people to raise awareness in forest protection and development. The whole region organized 125 mobile propaganda sessions, 74 concentrated propaganda sessions with over 5,500 participants; mobilized more than 4,300 households to sign a commitment to manage, protect forests and prevent and fight forest fires. Localities have developed 6 commune-level forest fire prevention and fighting plans; maintained and repaired over 16 km of firebreaks, ensuring vehicles and forces are ready to respond in case of an incident.

Since the beginning of the dry season, there have been no forest fires in the entire area; the number of forestry law violations has decreased by 30 cases compared to the same period last year, contributing to the safe protection of forest areas, maintaining ecological stability and living environment.

Also at the conference, Van Ban Social Insurance officers conveyed the basic content and new points of the Law on Social Insurance and Health Insurance; emphasizing the practical benefits of participating in voluntary social insurance and family health insurance, especially the sickness, retirement, death benefits and medical examination and treatment benefits. Social Insurance officers provided specific guidance on contribution levels and flexible participation methods, suitable to the income of each household and each group of workers; information on the State's support policies for poor and near-poor households, ethnic minorities and other target groups.

The conference aims to raise awareness and responsibility of forest protection forces in forest management, protection and development; at the same time, spread social security policies, contributing to building a national insurance system associated with sustainable forest development.
