Joy in Lao Chai

The Bo Y ethnic group is one of the minority ethnic communities living in Lao Cai province. In recent years, thanks to the attention of the Party, the State, and local Party committees and authorities through national target programs, the lives of the people here are gradually improving.

The community cultural center in Lao Chai village, Muong Khuong commune, has just been completed and put into use. With a total investment of over 1 billion VND from the National Target Program for socio -economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas, this is not only a place for meetings and activities, but also a space for preserving and transmitting the cultural values ​​of the Bo Y ethnic community in Lao Chai village.

Lao Chai village received an investment of over 1 billion VND for a community cultural center from the Program 1719 funding.

"Thanks to the attention from the Party and the State, the people are very happy. With the cultural center, we try to teach our children and grandchildren folk songs and traditional musical instruments so that our ethnic identity does not fade away."

Mrs. Lo Diu Hoa lives in Lao Chai village, Muong Khuong commune.

Thanks to funding from the National Target Program for socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas, many musical instruments, costumes, and folk songs of the Bo Y people have been purchased and restored, giving young people the opportunity to preserve their ethnic culture.

Ms. Lo Din Vien, also from Lao Chai village, happily said: "Now that I have learned the folk songs and dances of my ethnic group, we participate in performances at events in the commune and village."

Ethnic minority people perform folk songs, folk dances, and traditional dances of the Bo Y ethnic group to preserve their cultural identity.

Not only cultural institutions, but also the internal village transportation infrastructure is gradually improving. The wide concrete roads are proof of the consensus between "the Party's will and the people's aspirations," opening up opportunities for economic development for the people, including the development of a commercial tangerine growing area linked with experiential tourism .

The newly invested road facilitates trade and economic development for the Bo Y people.

The lives of over 60 Bo Y households in Lao Chai village have now taken on a new, positive appearance. They not only preserve their traditional culture but also proactively develop their household economies. By the end of 2024, the entire village had only 4 poor households remaining.

This is proof of the effectiveness of policies for ethnic minority areas, contributing to creating momentum for each community to rise strongly in the new era.
