At the meeting, Ambassador Pham Anh Tuan informed about the situation in Vietnam, Vietnam-Pakistan relations, and the two countries' recent launch of negotiations on the Vietnam-Pakistan Preferential Trade Agreement (VPPTA); and asked Minister Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh to help speed up the negotiations towards the early signing of the VPPTA, opening up new opportunities for economic , trade and investment cooperation between the two countries.
Regarding the Minister's concern regarding the S-shaped country's experience in developing energy infrastructure, the Ambassador said that Vietnam has a lot of experience in planning, implementing construction, operating energy systems and upgrading the power grid system; as well as in developing renewable energy systems such as wind power and solar power to effectively serve Vietnam's economic development and is ready to cooperate if Pakistan has a need.
The Ambassador also asked Minister Sheikh, in his role as head of Pakistan's investment promotion agency, to facilitate Vietnamese enterprises to participate in developing energy infrastructure that the South Asian country is in dire need of and that Vietnam has a lot of experience in, such as hydropower, power transmission, electrical equipment, etc., based on investment capital from international organizations currently deployed in Pakistan.

Also attending the meeting was Mr. Tran Hong Ky, a World Bank expert in Pakistan. Mr. Ky analyzed the similarities in the structure of the electricity industry of the two countries and directly compared the power generation capacity: Vietnam with a population of 100 million reached 90,000 MW, Pakistan with a population of 250 million only reached 45,000 MW.
He emphasized that cooperation needs to be officially implemented through state agencies to ensure transparency and efficiency, while encouraging Vietnamese enterprises to participate in large projects in Pakistan, contributing to diversifying resources and creating healthy competition.
The World Bank expert also shared Vietnam's energy development strategy based on private investment, the special economic zone model and flexible policies on investment and labor, and pointed out three factors that determine the success of industrialization: technical infrastructure, policy framework and human resources.

For his part, Minister Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh highly appreciated Vietnam's achievements, considering the Southeast Asian country a model to learn from in attracting investment and developing export industry. He pledged to improve the investment environment, welcome proposals for inter-sectoral cooperation, organize investment forums, promote the exchange of business delegations, especially in energy, agriculture , textiles and information technology between Vietnam and Pakistan. The Minister also affirmed that he would encourage and create conditions for foreign enterprises, including Vietnamese enterprises, to cooperate and invest in Pakistan.
