Australian travel magazine Lonely Planet has just included Quy Nhon (Gia Lai province) in the list of top 25 destinations in 2026, alongside many prominent destinations from Brazil, Mexico to Ireland.
Lonely Planet announces its "Best in Travel 2026" list, featuring 25 destinations and 25 experiences to look out for in the coming year, along with a series of exclusive itineraries designed on its new travel planning platform Lonely Planet Journeys.
According to Lonely Planet, this year's list honors places that "both have a strong local identity and demonstrate post-pandemic tourism resilience."
Destinations on the list as voted by Lonely Planet: Cadiz (Spain), Utrecht (Netherlands), Cartagena (Colombia), Quetzaltenango (Guatemala), Mexico City (Mexico), Theodore Roosevelt National Park (USA), Akaria-Flinders Ranges and Outback (Australia), Tunisia, Phuket (Thailand), Quy Nhon (Vietnam), Botswana, Peru, Jeju-do (Korea), Sardinia (Italy), Barbados, Solomon Islands, Réunion, Jaffna (Sri Lanka), Finland, British Columbia (Canada), Maine (USA)...
Quy Nhon was honored by Lonely Planet perhaps thanks to the combination of many factors: a rare relaxing atmosphere, pristine and beautiful beaches, the fusion of ancient Cham cultural heritage, and a unique, rustic street food scene.
It is this perfect balance of natural beauty and cultural harmony that makes Quy Nhon an ideal destination for travelers looking for a unique yet intimate experience.
Quy Nhon is considered the "muse" of Gia Lai when possessing long, poetic, curved beaches, fine golden sand and enchanting clear blue water. It is the peaceful, wild beauty that makes Quy Nhon have its own attraction, loved by many tourists.

Quy Nhon has many famous tourist destinations such as Nhon Hai-Hon Kho, Ky Co-Eo Gio, Ghenh Rang Tien Sa, Cu Lao Xanh along with many Cham towers and ancient pagodas.
Local cuisine is also a highlight with specialties such as fish cake noodle soup, jumping shrimp pancakes, rice vermicelli porridge and fresh seafood prepared in a rustic, rich flavor.
Australia's Sydney Morning Herald once called Quy Nhon "the Maldives of Vietnam."
Coming to Quy Nhon, visitors can dive to see coral at Hon Kho, immerse themselves in the life of the people of Nhon Ly fishing village and explore Cu Lao Xanh.
Some must-see destinations in Quy Nhon
Watching sunrise and sunset at Eo Gio
Eo Gio is the most famous tourist destination in Quy Nhon, considered as the “Vietnamese version” of Maldives with blue beaches and white sand banks sparkling in the sun. This place is considered one of the most beautiful places to watch sunrise and sunset in Vietnam.
Therefore, when traveling to the Central region and visiting Quy Nhon, you must definitely try to experience watching the sunrise and sunset at Eo Gio once to feel the magical beauty of nature.
The small strait is made up of high rocky mountains, protruding cliffs, winding around a sea area. Coming here, you can walk on the stone paths, stop to watch the sea and sunset with binoculars. The best time to come to Eo Gio is from April to September, when there are no storms and the bay is sheltered from the wind. Blue sky and blue sea are the right space for visitors to have extremely beautiful "check-in" photos.
Overnight at Bai Xep
Bai Xep is located in a small fishing village 12km from the city center, considered by foreign newspapers as one of the 16 "mysterious gems" of Asia. In addition to swimming and exploring the wild nature, staying overnight at accommodation facilities is considered an experience that should be tried by those who want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
At night, you can find peace by walking along the sandy beach, visiting the fishing village, and letting your soul drift among the sound of the waves. In particular, here, you also have the opportunity to immerse yourself in the life of fishermen, participating in the morning fish markets when the fishing boats return. With a warm and hospitable spirit, life here brings a feeling of peace and relaxation.
Explore the coastal village of Quy Nhon

If you love adventure travel combined with cultural exploration, you can go to the suburbs, visit small villages, golden fields and daily life. Not only famous for its golden sand and blue sea, Quy Nhon also has beautiful villages with vast, fertile fields. When traveling to Quy Nhon, you can visit these beautiful small villages to bring a little peace and comfort to yourself.
Diving to see coral at Hon Kho
Hon Kho is about 20km from the center of Quy Nhon city (old). Coming here, visitors can swim, dive to see coral, play adventure games, go to floating houses to enjoy fresh seafood... True to its name, the island has no green trees, only large rocks stacked on top of each other. But in return, the beaches around the island have clear blue water like jade, long, smooth sand suitable for all ages./.
