200 people clean up the Hue Imperial Citadel after flooding.

TPO - The historic floods caused severe inundation at many historical sites within the Hue Heritage area, with mud covering the courtyards of many palaces and pathways. As soon as the water receded, the Hue Imperial City Relics Conservation Center mobilized all its resources for a thorough cleanup, aiming to reopen to visitors by the morning of October 31st.

Immediately after the floodwaters receded, nearly 200 officials and staff from the Hue Imperial Citadel Conservation Center were mobilized to key historical sites such as the Imperial Citadel, the tombs of Tu Duc, Minh Mang, and Khai Dinh, and the An Dinh Palace… to clear stagnant water, remove mud, wash the courtyards, and clean the interiors.

The cleaning teams followed the principle of "cleaning as the water recedes," prioritizing areas with high visitor traffic and structures that are easily damaged.

Along the pathways within the Imperial Citadel, the sounds of pumps, hoses, and brooms echoed. Mud was being swept away, and ancient tiles were being cleaned. In many areas, staff had to manually bail out water because the drainage system hadn't yet fully recovered after days of flooding.
