From early morning, more than 30 officers and soldiers along with many specialized vehicles such as 2 ambulances, 1 fire truck, booster pumps and cleaning equipment... were mobilized to Nguyen Van Cu Primary School (Dien Ban Ward), which was deeply flooded in the previous days.

The school area was flooded more than 3 meters deep. The water has now receded, but has left behind heavy damage to the facilities and teaching equipment. In navy blue uniforms, the soldiers are busy clearing mud, spraying the school yard, wiping down desks, chairs, classrooms, etc., helping teachers and students return to class soon in a clean, safe environment.

Also in Dien Ban ward, 30 officers and soldiers of Technical Support Center 354 (Navy Region 3) supported Ly Thuong Kiet Primary School. The unit also mobilized 1 truck and 1 ambulance to assist in the cleanup.

The image of marine soldiers, regardless of hardship, quietly joining hands with the local government and people after the flood has become a heartwarming highlight, vividly demonstrating the spirit of "military and people are like fish and water" in the days when Da Nang is recovering from natural disasters.

After nearly 5 days of being submerged in floodwaters, many places in Hoi An ward (Da Nang city) have fallen into a desolate and shabby scene. Taking advantage of the receding water, people in the old town are busy cleaning up and stabilizing their lives.

Ms. Vo Duy Phuong, owner of a shop on Chau Thuong Van Street, said: "The entire shop has been submerged in floodwater for more than 4 days now, and all furniture and items are completely damaged. Now that the water has receded, I am taking the opportunity to clean up the mud and wipe the tables and chairs in the shop."

Many people still have to use boats to move home to clean and check their belongings.
