In just one day of cleaning, three schools including Kim Dong Secondary School (Ha Nha commune), Dai Quang Primary School, and Dai Dong Primary School were clean of mud and ready to welcome students back to class.
Some single-parent households and offices that were deeply submerged in mud were also cleaned up by the soldiers. The determination of the navy soldiers for their fellow countrymen moved the people in the flooded areas.
Right on the school campus, many female officers of the Women's Union of Brigade 680, Naval Region 3, and commune officers set up kitchens to cook rice for the soldiers.
Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Ba Ngoc, Political Commissar of Brigade 680, said that on November 1, soldiers from Naval Region 3, along with local youth unions and other forces, cleared three mud-flooded areas.
Soldiers used fire trucks to get water from the river to wash away mud combined with manual raking.
Tonight, November 1, the entire brigade will be divided into three shifts to clean up overnight; taking advantage of the fire trucks currently deployed to clean up Ha Nha commune while speeding up the work to reopen offices and schools early next week.
