According to Tuoi Tre Online , the list of Vietnam national team in the November training session will lack many U22 players. Coach Kim Sang Sik will transfer most of the young players to U22 Vietnam so that this group can focus on preparing for the 33rd SEA Games.
This group includes defenders Nguyen Hieu Minh, Nguyen Nhat Minh, midfielders Nguyen Xuan Bac, Nguyen Phi Hoang, and possibly goalkeeper Tran Trung Kien, strikers Nguyen Thanh Nhan and Nguyen Dinh Bac. These players appeared in the Vietnam team during FIFA Days last October when the team prepared to play two matches against Nepal.
To make up for the above personnel shortage, the Vietnam team will welcome back a series of familiar faces similar to the list from the ASEAN Cup 2024. Among them is naturalized striker Nguyen Xuan Son.
However, it is not certain that Xuan Son can play immediately in the match against Laos, because Coach Kim's main purpose in calling him up is to directly check his form and physical condition after a long time of not playing.
Some cases that are definitely absent due to not recovering from injuries are goalkeeper Nguyen Filip, defender Vu Van Thanh, midfielder Doan Ngoc Tan, Chau Ngoc Quang and striker Nguyen Van Toan. To fill some positions, it is likely that Mr. Kim will call up some new players who are in good form in the V-League.
Besides the importance of the match against Laos in the second leg of the third qualifying round of the 2027 Asian Cup, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) and coach Kim Sang Sik also attach importance to the preparation of U22 Vietnam before the 33rd SEA Games.
November will be the final important stage for the coaching staff to assemble the squad, choose optimal personnel and practice playing style to build the strongest team for this congress.
Therefore, the tour to China will be the place where all the elite faces of U22 Vietnam will gather. Here, acting head coach Dinh Hong Vinh will lead the team to compete with U22 China, U22 Uzbekistan and U22 Korea.
This is also an opportunity for the Vietnamese team to gather all the best players possible to achieve good results against Laos, thereby nurturing the hope of winning a ticket to the 2027 Asian Finals.
