Overseas Vietnamese player reports good news to coach Kim Sang Sik

Overseas Vietnamese player Tran Thanh Trung escaped serious injury and can join the U22 Vietnam team to prepare for the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand.

After being taken to the hospital for examination, Thanh Trung only needed 5 stitches on the torn shin of his left leg. Doctors said the Ninh Binh Club player would need more than a week to recover.

Thus, Thanh Trung is likely to miss the next two matches in V-League (rounds 10 and 11), and can still join U22 Vietnam if coach Kim Sang Sik calls him.

Before that, in the 11th minute of the Ninh Binh vs Becamex TP.HCM match in round 9 of LPBank V-League 2025/26, Tran Thanh Trung broke through and then shot in the away team's penalty area. Dinh Khuong of Becamex TP.HCM had a very strong tackle that caused the midfielder born in 2005 to immediately lie on the field in pain and then had to leave the field.

Thanh Trung checked his injury at the hospital.

Ninh Binh coach Gerard Albadalejo said: "The Becamex TP.HCM player tackled the ball very dangerously, causing Thanh Trung to tear his shin, even touching the bone. What surprised me was that the referee did not give him a red card in that situation."

Thanh Trung is one of the young talents, gradually asserting his official position at Binh Binh Club. At U22 Vietnam, Coach Kim Sang Sik has also called up the Bulgarian-Vietnamese player many times in 2025.

Thanh Trung may be called up to the U22 Vietnam team to attend the 33rd SEA Games.

According to the plan, U22 Vietnam (26 players) will gather with the national team during the FIFA Days in November. From November 10 to 19, the team will participate in the Panda Cup 2025 international friendly tournament in China, with the participation of quality teams including U22 China, U22 Uzbekistan and U22 Korea.

After the tournament in China, U22 Vietnam returned home to train in Vung Tau. Khuat Van Khang and his teammates are expected to leave for Thailand to attend the 33rd SEA Games on December 2.
