According to the Ca Mau Province Hydrometeorological Station, this tidal period has a very large amplitude, from 3 to 4.3 meters. The highest tidal peak is forecast to appear on November 6-8 (ie September 17-19 of the lunar calendar).

In particular, the peak tide at Ganh Hao hydrological station can exceed alarm level 3 by 20 to 35cm.

Many experts in Ca Mau warn that the flow intensity of this high tide is very strong and swift, with a high possibility of causing landslides in riverside areas, vulnerable areas and outside the dike, especially in the eastern coastal area.

Faced with this situation, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tung, Head of the Ca Mau Irrigation Sub-Department, said he has directed the operation of more than 300 coastal and riverside dams to respond.

In parallel with the operation of the sluice, the Ca Mau Irrigation Department also directed the continuous pumping of water to drain floodwaters in areas with closed dikes, in order to minimize damage in production.

Construction crews are also required to be on duty continuously, especially during peak tide days.

Local authorities advise Ca Mau residents to closely monitor forecasts, proactively reinforce embankments, raise or move vulnerable assets. In particular, it is necessary to turn off electrical equipment in low locations to avoid leakage when flooded, and limit travel and exploitation along the river when the water level is high and the flow is strong.
