Cooperation in applying AI in medical examination and treatment, hospital management and human resource development

On the evening of November 4, Bach Mai Hospital and FPT Group signed a comprehensive strategic cooperation agreement on digital transformation and application of science and technology, especially AI, in medical examination and treatment, hospital management and human resource development.

The event marks an important step forward in the roadmap to modernize Vietnam's healthcare system, aiming to improve the quality of patient care, optimize management and operation, and contribute to the implementation of the goals of Resolution 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation and national digital transformation and Resolution 72-NQ/TW on a number of breakthrough solutions to strengthen the protection, care and improvement of people's health.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Mr. Truong Gia Binh, Chairman of the Board of Directors of FPT Corporation, said: Healthcare is a field that contains core elements for the development of technology, because first of all, this is a human industry. Artificial intelligence (AI) today has developed remarkably thanks to large language models (LLM) - built on the foundation of human language and knowledge.

FPT wishes to accompany Bach Mai Hospital in the journey of mastering technology, building a smart hospital model, and developing AI platforms to serve Vietnam's healthcare. With the formula 'Together, we are the best', when the leading medical team combines with FPT's technological capabilities, it is completely possible to create new advances for healthcare and national digital transformation.

Associate Professor, Dr. Dao Xuan Co, Director of Bach Mai Hospital, shared: Bach Mai Hospital wishes to become a smart hospital, in which AI and digital technology are applied not only in diagnosis, treatment, and hospital management, but also towards comprehensive automation.

Bach Mai Hospital aims to connect national health data, build digital health records for all citizens, create a foundation for research and improve the quality of health care. With a standardized Big Data warehouse, Vietnam will have the conditions to promote research and publish major scientific works. And with FPT's technological capacity and digital transformation experience, the two sides will work closely together to realize these goals.

FPT Corporation General Director Nguyen Van Khoa pledged to devote all his strength, intelligence and heart to implementing this cooperation with Bach Mai Hospital. This will open a new path for the application of technology in healthcare, contributing to better serving the people and the country. FPT pledged to transform the cooperation orientations into concrete actions, helping to reduce the workload for medical staff, while improving the effectiveness of people's healthcare.

According to the agreement, the two sides will cooperate comprehensively, focusing on four key areas, from digital transformation, technology application in medical care and treatment, to health care and medical human resource development.

Firstly , FPT Corporation will provide overall strategy consulting and build comprehensive digital transformation solutions for Bach Mai Hospital, aiming to build a smart hospital. The two sides will build a centralized clinical data warehouse and an open data warehouse to serve scientific research, thereby applying AI to support doctors in decision making and serving scientific research. The two sides will also deploy a data integration axis, connecting with national databases and international health organizations; at the same time, deploy Telemedicine to serve remote consultation, medical examination and treatment; online training and scientific activities.

Second , FPT and Bach Mai Hospital will cooperate in developing and applying science and technology in medical care and treatment. Specifically, AI will be applied in care, forecasting patient needs, supporting diagnostic imaging, ultrasound, endoscopy, and assisting doctors in clinical decision making. At the same time, AI will support resource allocation, medical supply chain management, forecasting the need for supplies, medicines, and consumables, contributing to improving the efficiency of hospital operations. FPT and Bach Mai Hospital will cooperate in researching, developing, and improving digital healthcare products, serving the needs of medical examination and treatment and improving the quality of medical services for the people.

Third , Bach Mai Hospital will accompany in protecting and taking care of the health of FPT staff; the two sides will coordinate in training first aid skills, general medical training, and health care for children and women.

Fourth , FPT supports Bach Mai Hospital in training hospital management, digital transformation and AI applications; the hospital cooperates in training doctors, nurses and pharmacists for the FPT Long Chau system. The two sides will also carry out community activities, supporting disadvantaged patients, especially women, children and the disadvantaged.
