Dalat's clouds are most numerous and beautiful at the time of changing seasons, when the weather changes from spring to summer.

The famous travel magazine National Geographic has chosen Da Lat (Vietnam) as the starting point for its journey to explore the world when the day just awakens. According to this magazine, the Central Highlands of Vietnam is “where the dawn belongs to the clouds”, when the valleys are covered in mist and the mountain peaks appear like islands floating in the “white sea”.

This long-standing publication describes the experience of “cloud hunting” in Da Lat as a special ritual for nature lovers. Before sunrise, visitors climb the high hills at an altitude of about 1,400 m, watching the scene of fog rolling through pine forests and tea fields. The phenomenon only lasts for about an hour, when the cool night air still holds the clouds in the valley before the sunlight clears them.

“The clouds in Da Lat are especially beautiful in the chilly morning air. The scene is hard to describe, it can only be felt with your own eyes,” the American magazine quoted Mr. Dinh Van Don, owner of Happy Day Travel, as saying.

The moment the whole city sleeps in the rippling sea of clouds makes Dalat unique.

To successfully "hunt clouds", visitors should wake up early and choose high points such as Langbiang, Cau Dat or Hon Bo, where the sea of clouds is thick and the sky is bright when the sun appears.

From a local hobby, cloud hunting has now become a typical experience of Da Lat, attracting thousands of domestic and foreign tourists. The website commented that "it is a rare moment when the boundary between heaven and earth seems to disappear" - a scene that is both magical and peaceful, creating a unique attraction for Vietnam on the world's sunrise map.

After Dalat, National   Geographic also takes a look at other famous sunrises around the world:

  • Danakil (Ethiopia) with Erta Ale volcano and crystal clear Asale salt lake;
  • The Andes (Peru) where Quechua artisans weave early in the morning in the dew;
  • Emilia-Romagna (Italy) with the ritual of making Parmigiano Reggiano from dawn;
  • Guérande salt marsh (France) sparkles like a mirror in the early morning;
  • Azores (Portugal) with wooden boats setting sail before dawn;
  • Varanasi (India) where the Ganges resonates with early morning ragas.

National Geographic magazine (USA) was founded in 1888, famous for science , discovery, culture and travel. With a global network of collaborators and strict editorial standards, this publication is considered one of the most prestigious references on travel destinations and experiences.
