Vietnam Airlines opens direct flight connecting the two capitals Hanoi and Jakarta

On November 4, the opening ceremony of the Hanoi - Jakarta direct flight took place in Jakarta.

This is the second direct flight between Indonesia and Vietnam that Vietnam Airlines launched this year, following the Denpasar - Ho Chi Minh City flight in June. This demonstrates the airline's long-term commitment to investing and expanding its network in the Indonesian market.

According to Mr. Tran Tuan Nghia, Head of Vietnam Airlines Branch in Indonesia, the first flight will be operated on November 22, 2025. With daily flight frequency and reasonable night flight hours, passengers can take advantage of daytime hours to work, visit or travel domestically, especially useful for busy businessmen and tourists .

This route also brings practical benefits and meets the increasing travel needs of Vietnamese and Indonesian people, while increasing Vietnam Airlines' competitiveness in the ASEAN aviation market.

Mr. Tran Tuan Nghia shared that in the flight network development strategy, Vietnam Airlines determined to focus on key markets in the world , especially in Southeast Asia and Northeast Asia. This development strategy is consistent with the general orientation of the Party and State leaders: Wherever Vietnam Airlines flies, Vietnam's soft border will go there. In particular, this flight route will also contribute to increasing the number of passengers traveling between the two countries.

Speaking at the event, Vietnamese Ambassador to Indonesia Ta Van Thong emphasized that the opening of this new route not only marks the expansion of aviation connectivity between Vietnam and Indonesia but also a new step forward in the partnership between the two countries. This reflects the growing trust, cooperation and shared commitment between the two countries, as both are dynamic members of ASEAN and close friends with a long history of cooperation.

In this context, the Jakarta - Hanoi direct flight plays the role of a bridge bringing the people of the two countries closer together, contributing greatly to promoting people-to-people exchanges between the two countries, creating favorable conditions for businesses of both sides and exploiting the Indonesian market, a leading potential market in the region.
