Billionaire Ho Xuan Nang's professorship application approved by the state

The State Council of Professors has announced the full list of candidates for professorship and associate professorship in 26 fields and interdisciplinary fields that have been approved by the state. Billionaire Ho Xuan Nang's application for professorship has been approved.

This morning, November 4, the website of the State Council of Professors officially announced the list of candidates for the title of professor and associate professor (GS, PGS) in 2025 in 26 fields and interdisciplinary fields. The results show that the application for professorship of billionaire Ho Xuan Nang (Phenikaa University) has been approved.

However, it was not until the Chairman of the State Council of Professors, Minister Nguyen Kim Son, signed the decision to recognize the candidate as a qualified professor that Mr. Ho Xuan Nang was officially recognized as a qualified professor in the 2025 review period. Thus, it is likely that in the near future, the already very small team of professors in our country will have an additional member who is one of the richest people in Vietnam.

For the two majors of military science and security science, the list of candidates is not publicly announced.

This is the result of the 4th meeting of the State Council of Professors for the 2024-2029 term, held on November 2.

As reported by Thanh Nien Newspaper , the State Council of Professors has approved the profiles of 900 candidates, including 71 professor candidates and 829 associate professor candidates. Meanwhile, 28 industry and interdisciplinary councils proposed 911 profiles (73 professor candidates, 838 associate professor candidates). Thus, there are 11 candidates that were not approved by the State Council of Professors in the 2025 professor and associate professor review, even though the industry and interdisciplinary councils had proposed them.

In 2025, the recognition of meeting the standards for the title of Professor and Associate Professor will still be carried out according to Decision No. 37/2018/QD-TTg dated August 31, 2018 and Decision No. 25/2020/QD-TTg dated August 31, 2020 amending and supplementing a number of articles of Decision 37 (both decisions are of the Prime Minister).

The Office of the State Council of Professors assessed that the quality of candidates in 2025 is basically quite good, foreign language proficiency has improved a lot, and candidates all have enough scientific research works published in international journals listed in ISI, Scopus or other prestigious journals.

By 2025, councils at all levels will publicly disclose information about qualified candidates on the websites of higher education institutions and the website of the State Council of Professors.

"Critical information from society and the scientific community... is a useful source of information to help functional units select qualified candidates who meet the standards for the title of Professor and Associate Professor," said a representative of the Office of the State Council of Professors.
