Hiroshima-Vietnam Peace and Friendship Association: Organizing many meaningful activities in Quang Tri

QTO - The working delegation of the Hiroshima-Vietnam Peace and Friendship Association led by Mr. Akagi Tatsuo, Executive Director, has just concluded a meaningful visit and working session in Quang Tri province.

Accordingly, during the visit and working session in Quang Tri province, the delegation offered flowers and incense to express their respect to the heroic martyrs who sacrificed for independence and freedom at Ba Doc Martyrs' Cemetery and "red addresses", such as: Quang Tri Ancient Citadel, Vinh Moc tunnels, Hien Luong-Ben Hai river banks, and General Vo Nguyen Giap Memorial House. In particular, the delegation offered incense to commemorate martyr Le Trung (a military doctor, Japanese nationality, who sacrificed while on duty in Laos) at Ba Doc Martyrs' Cemetery.

The delegation also visited and worked with the Quang Tri Province Mine Action Center (QTMAC), learning about the situation of bombs, mines, and explosives left over from the war; information collection, processing, coordination, and clearance to clean up land for agricultural production and community life.

Here, the delegation also listened to the need for support in propaganda and education on mine awareness and victim support programs, aiming for the province to no longer be affected by mines by 2035.

On this occasion, the delegation awarded 60 annual scholarships to disadvantaged students at Nam Quang Tri Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities. Mr. Akagi Tatsuo affirmed that the association will continue to be a bridge to strengthen the Hiroshima-Quang Tri cooperation relationship.

Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of the Union of Friendship Organizations of Quang Tri Province Luong Ngoc Binh expressed his deep gratitude and emphasized that these scholarships are not only material support but also a symbol of the affection, trust and expectations that the people of Hiroshima send to the young generation of Quang Tri.

The 16th annual activities of the Hiroshima-Vietnam Peace and Friendship Association in Quang Tri have left many positive impressions, affirming the strong and humane friendship between Hiroshima and Quang Tri; at the same time contributing to fostering the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Japan for peace and common prosperity.
