Olympia record holder used to be a waiter, now an engineer for Google

Over the past 25 years, the Road to Olympia has become a launching pad for many outstanding faces of the young generation of Vietnam. Among them, the name Ho Dac Thanh Chuong (Quoc Hoc Hue High School for the Gifted) is still very special: the record holder in the 16th year final.

Ho Dac Thanh Chuong holds the record of 340 points in the 16th Final.

Ho Dac Thanh Chuong was born in 1999 in Hue. His mother is a teacher and his father works at the Thua Thien-Hue Irrigation Company.

Thanh Chuong has a good memory, quickly remembers some images and has been able to read since he was 4 years old. During his time at school, he had an excellent academic record with 10 consecutive years as a comprehensive excellent student with an average score of over 9.0. In addition, he also won many big prizes in competitions for the school he attended.

At the 16th Road to Olympia competition, Ho Dac Thanh Chuong set a record by scoring 340 points. With this result, the Hue native surpassed the runner-up that year by 85 points. Thanh Chuong's opponent, contestant Le Duy Bach, also had to admit: "There is nothing to regret because the winner is so deserving."

In 2020, Chuong revealed that he was working as a tutor at a center. His main job is to help students, mainly high school students, pass the Australian high school exam as best as possible. While studying in Australia, Ho Dac Thanh Chuong also studied Mathematics and Computer Science . Thanh Chuong once shared his desire to work in a company with a dynamic environment, supporting startups, creating useful values for the community.

At the Gala program celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Road to Olympia, Ho Dac Thanh Chuong said that he has been working at Google Sydney (Australia) since 2023. Despite being in a position that many people dream of, he still maintains a humble demeanor and a spirit of continuous learning.

Currently, Ho Dac Thanh Chuong is working at Google Sydney (Australia).

"I'm working at Google, in a team where I want to succeed, it requires a lot of support and each individual in the team needs to know how to cooperate with each other, know how to optimize the resources and experience of each individual.

Competition, if any, the question is whether today is better than yesterday and how to make tomorrow better than today" , Ho Dac Thanh Chuong shared.

Interestingly, during his time studying abroad, the male student gained 10kg. Currently, the appearance of the "Olympia record holder" is much more mature and grown-up than before.

Regarding his personal life, Thanh Chuong still maintains a secretive habit; on social networks, he rarely shares photos or private information, choosing to live a simple life and focus on work.
