25 Vietnamese universities in Asian rankings, many schools cause surprises

On November 4, Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) officially announced the 2026 Asian University Rankings, with 1,526 educational institutions evaluated.

Vietnam has 25 universities in this ranking. Among them, many schools are in the top for the first time such as Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH), Ho Chi Minh City University of Agriculture and Forestry, Thuy Loi University, University of Commerce, Phenikaa University, Vietnam Academy of Agriculture , Banking Academy...

According to the 2026 rankings, Hanoi National University continues to hold the top position in the Vietnamese higher education system, ranked 158th in the world , a slight increase compared to 2025 (ranked 161). Hanoi National University achieved its highest achievement in 2019 at 124th globally.

Duy Tan University ranked second at 165th, down 38 places compared to 2025. It was followed by Ho Chi Minh City National University and Ton Duc Thang University, at 175th and 231st positions, respectively.

Notably, Van Lang University in the top 5 has jumped from the top 491-500 in 2025 to 251st. In addition, this school ranked 199th in Academic Reputation, up 63 places compared to the previous ranking.

Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry also jumped from 501-520 to 255th place.

As a new face, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology ranked at 287th.

There are 4 schools in the 100-1,300 group including Thuyloi University, University of Commerce, Banking Academy, and Vinh University.
