Ensure the Cham Cultural Festival takes place with a strong national identity, spreading the spirit of great solidarity

On November 6, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Steering Committee for the 6th Cham Cultural Festival in Khanh Hoa province in 2025 held a meeting to review preparations for the Festival. Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Trinh Thi Thuy, Head of the Steering Committee chaired the meeting.

Also attending the meeting were delegates: Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission Tran Thanh Lam; Director of the Department of Vietnamese Ethnic Culture Trinh Ngoc Chung; Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Khanh Hoa province Nguyen Van Nhuan... along with representatives of relevant agencies, units and localities.

Reporting at the meeting, Director of the Department of Vietnamese Ethnic Culture Trinh Ngoc Chung said: Immediately after the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism assigned the Department of Vietnamese Ethnic Culture to coordinate with Khanh Hoa province to organize the 6th Cham Ethnic Culture Festival, the Department advised the Ministry's leaders to issue Decisions and Plans to organize the Festival: establish the Steering Committee, Organizing Committee, Art Council, Arbitration Committee; Award structure; regulations and charters of cultural, sports and tourism activities...

In addition, work and exchange with Vietnam Television (VTV8, Vietnam Television Center in the Central Highlands) on broadcasting the Opening Ceremony of the Festival live. Send a document requesting the Voice of Vietnam and Vietnam News Agency to promote the activities of the Festival. Coordinate with Khanh Hoa province on the Art Program and the Opening Ceremony of the Festival; Survey and agree on the overall design of the space to organize the activities of the Festival. It can be said that, up to now, the basic preparation work has been completed.

Also according to Mr. Trinh Ngoc Chung, in the coming time, in order for the 6th Cham Ethnic Cultural Festival to be organized effectively and successfully, the Department is continuing to advise and propose the Minister to award Certificates of Merit to 06 Artisan Groups, actors, and mass athletes from 06 provinces participating in the Festival; Issue a Notice of Convocation and a detailed Schedule of Activities for the Festival; Agree on locations and contents to organize cultural activities, sports competitions, tour guide skills competitions and the Workshop "Promoting the value of Cham cultural heritage in tourism development"

At the same time, coordinate with Khanh Hoa province to make a list and send invitations to participate in the Festival; Advise the Ministry's leaders to assign the functional units of the Ministry to direct news agencies and newspapers to widely report and propagate the event on the print, electronic, radio, television and digital information platforms, in order to create a widespread effect in society about the Festival; Coordinate with localities to promptly issue a Plan to participate in the Festival, ensure the contents according to the Plan and establish Cham ethnic cultural, sports and tourism delegations.

Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Khanh Hoa province Nguyen Van Nhuan said: The 6th Cham ethnic cultural festival was held in Khanh Hoa province to honor and introduce the traditional cultural values ​​of the Cham people to domestic and international friends. Thereby, promoting the image of a Vietnam rich in cultural identity, with unity and harmony among ethnic groups, demonstrating the attention of the Party and State to the work of preserving and promoting the cultural values ​​of the Cham people in the process of innovation, integration and development; raising awareness and sense of responsibility in building and developing Vietnamese culture and people to meet the requirements of sustainable development of the country.

This is also an opportunity to strengthen and promote the strength of solidarity among ethnic minorities in general and Cham ethnic groups in particular in the provinces of the Southern and South Central regions after the arrangement of provincial-level administrative units according to Resolution No. 202/2025/QH15 dated June 12, 2025 of the National Assembly.

Accordingly, according to Mr. Nguyen Van Nhuan, up to now, the preparation work for the Festival is being actively implemented by Khanh Hoa province. The province has issued a plan and directed professional agencies to actively implement propaganda and promotion work about the event. For the opening and closing programs, the professional agencies of Khanh Hoa province have built a framework script for the art program, in order to contribute to ensuring that the program is imbued with the cultural identity of the Cham ethnic group.

Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Trinh Thi Thuy, Head of the Festival Steering Committee, acknowledged the contributions to complete the preparations for the 6th Cham Ethnic Cultural Festival. The Deputy Minister assessed that the preparations basically met the set progress and quality.

With the desire to have a successful Festival, leaving a deep impression in the hearts of ethnic minorities, as well as people and tourists, the Deputy Minister requested the Department of Culture of Vietnamese Ethnic Groups, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Khanh Hoa province together with relevant units and localities to continue to strengthen coordination, review the contents and activities within the framework of the Festival, and avoid mistakes. The Festival must take place solemnly, on a large scale, and reflect the correct theme. Activities must be associated with political and cultural events of the country, region and locality; suitable to the actual situation.

In particular, Deputy Minister Trinh Thi Thuy requested that the programs and activities of the Festival must clearly demonstrate the cultural identity of the Cham people, be communal, promote the role of cultural subjects, promote traditional cultural values ​​associated with the progressive factors of the times. At the same time, it has practical significance in orienting the work of preserving Cham ethnic culture associated with tourism development, thereby improving the material and spiritual life of the Cham ethnic community in the current context. In addition, the organization of the Festival must ensure efficiency, safety, and economy, creating a joyful and exciting atmosphere for the Cham ethnic community to participate in the Festival.

"Based on the proposals and recommendations at the meeting, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will consider and create the most favorable conditions so that the organization of the Festival will be truly meaningful, impressive and professional," Deputy Minister Trinh Thi Thuy affirmed.

Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission Tran Thanh Lam emphasized the importance of information and propaganda to create a positive and vibrant ripple effect for the Festival. Thereby, Mr. Tran Thanh Lam suggested that it is necessary to strengthen propaganda about the Festival on central and local media channels, especially in provinces with Cham people, to demonstrate the attention of State leaders to the work of national solidarity and preservation of cultural identity. In addition, it is also necessary to focus on security and safety issues in the organization space and on cyberspace, carefully considering the content of cultural performances to avoid sensitive issues./.

With the theme "Preserving and promoting the cultural identity of the Cham ethnic group in the new era", the 6th Cham ethnic cultural festival in Khanh Hoa province, 2025 will be held for 3 days, from December 5 to December 7, 2025 in Khanh Hoa province.
