Ms. Lai Viet Anh, Deputy Director of the Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy, Ministry of Industry and Trade
Speaking at the Press Conference, Ms. Lai Viet Anh, Deputy Director of the Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy, Ministry of Industry and Trade, said: In recent years, Southeast Asia has emerged as one of the most dynamic regions in the world in terms of cross-border e-commerce and supply chain development. According to statistics, by 2024, the total value of e-commerce transactions in Southeast Asia has exceeded 100 billion USD. Of which, Vietnam's e-commerce retail revenue reached 25 billion USD. Vietnam is ranked as the country with the highest e-commerce growth rate in the region, in the top 10 countries with the fastest growth rate in the world and ranked 3rd in terms of market size (after Indonesia and Thailand) with over 60 million people participating in online shopping.
However, one of the biggest obstacles for consumers when shopping online is the fear of product quality not being as advertised. In addition, buyers are afraid of receiving poor quality, fake, counterfeit goods, or goods that do not match the images and descriptions online. This reality shows that there is a need for more consistent and appropriate solutions to build a transparent, safe business environment, protect the interests of consumers and reputable businesses in the market.

Sharing about the orientation for 2025, the leader of the Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy said that Online Friday 2025 will focus on building a comprehensive connected ecosystem with the consistent theme of "Safety - Peace of mind - Happiness".
This year’s theme clearly demonstrates the Government’s orientation in promoting e-commerce to become a modern, transparent, trustworthy and positive shopping channel. Online Friday not only aims to create a common playground to strengthen trust, protect consumer rights, help them feel secure about product quality and online transactions, but also brings convenience, joy and excitement throughout the digital shopping journey.
At the same time, the program also aims to strengthen the connection and sustainable companionship between the business community and consumers.
Specifically, the 2025 program will focus on the following main contents: Enhancing e-commerce and digital technology experiences through organizing the largest online shopping program in Vietnam and the Technology Experience Space; Building consumer trust by providing practical incentives, promoting electronic payments, and strengthening the prevention of counterfeit and fake goods; Supporting businesses in digital transformation, improving technology application capacity, promoting local products; and Promoting the promotion, identification, and consumption of genuine products, while supporting local businesses in online exports, contributing to overall economic development.
At the press conference, the leaders of the Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy hoped that press agencies and reporters would continue to accompany and spread information about the Program to a large number of consumers and businesses in provinces and cities nationwide. At the same time, they encouraged increased communication about solutions to prevent counterfeit and fake goods; protect the rights of subjects in the e-commerce environment, as well as disseminate support policies from the Government.
The Department of E-commerce will also always accompany all businesses across the country to continue to have the opportunity to promote the consumption of goods, contributing to the development of production and business, and consumers can easily choose goods at good prices, suitable to their needs.
