Lai Chau has two more national intangible cultural heritages.

(CLO) The performance of "Xa nha ca" and the art of xoe of the Ha Nhi people have just been recognized as national intangible cultural heritage by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

On the evening of November 5, in Thu Lum commune (Lai Chau), the Ceremony to Announce the Decision of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to recognize the "Xa nha ca" performance and the art of xoe of the Ha Nhi people as National Intangible Cultural Heritage took place.

Accordingly, Decision 2175 and 2171/QD-BVHTTDL dated June 27, 2025 of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism included the Folk Performing Arts, Folk Literature of the "Xa nha ca" performance of the Ha Nhi people and the Folk Performing Arts of the Xoe Ha Nhi art of Lai Chau province into the List of National Intangible Cultural Heritage.

The epic poem "Xa Nha Ca" is a long history with 3,590 verses divided into 11 parts, logically and tightly structured from beginning to end, making the listener feel like he is lost in a wild place of heaven and earth, sometimes sad to the point of tears, and finally the joy of reunion, the joy of happiness, of a warm and prosperous life.

This heritage is an "epic" of the Ha Nhi people, recounting the history of the struggle for survival and the migration from the old land to new lands about 300 years ago. The work also shows the Ha Nhi people's concept of the formation of all things, explaining the origin of the universe and all species. This helps future generations better understand the spiritual culture of their ancestors.

The art of Xoe dance of the Ha Nhi ethnic group is an indispensable or inseparable form of cultural and artistic activity in the spiritual life of the Ha Nhi people. The Ha Nhi people often dance on occasions of community cultural activities such as festivals, New Year's holidays, harvest prayers, weddings, housewarmings or on beautiful moonlit nights...

With diverse performance forms through dances such as drum dance, field dance, weaving dance, waiting for rain dance, seasonal dance, moon-watching dance, farewell dance... reflecting the rich life of the Ha Nhi people. This is a collective dance symbolizing the strong bond and harmony of the community, an indispensable form of cultural activity in festivals and community activities of the Ha Nhi people.

The recognition of the National Intangible Cultural Heritage for the "Xa nha ca" performance and the xoe art of the Ha Nhi people in Lai Chau not only honors, preserves and promotes the unique values ​​of the cultural heritage of the Ha Nhi ethnic group in the far west of the country.

This is also a special event with sacred significance, recognizing the contributions of many generations in preserving heritage, arousing pride, love for the homeland and a sense of responsibility in the work of preserving and promoting traditional cultural values ​​of the local people.

At the same time, this is also a common honor of Lai Chau province - a land that converges brilliant cultural colors, imbued with affection and crystallization of the culture of more than 20 ethnic groups living together.
