
The 2nd Muong Ethnic Cultural Festival took place from November 21 to 23 with many special activities.
The event was jointly organized by Hanoi city and the provinces of Phu Tho, Lao Cai, Son La and Thanh Hoa.
Within the framework of the "National Great Unity - Vietnamese Cultural Heritage" Week in 2025, the festival is an opportunity to honor and spread the traditional cultural values of the Muong people, contributing to introducing the unique identity of the community to people across the country and international friends.
The event also promotes the image of Vietnam with rich identity, unity with the spirit of solidarity and harmony among ethnic groups. Through a series of cultural, sports , tourism activities and the heritage space of the Muong people in the flow of innovation, the festival expands opportunities to connect businesses, tourists and affirms the development potential of the locality.
This activity also increases the attractiveness of investment resources, promotes promotion, advertising and regional linkages, and creates momentum for the formation of key tourist areas and spots in areas with a large Muong population.
The opening ceremony took place at 8pm on November 21, opening with an art program recreating the rustic and profound Muong identity. The festival space blended the resounding gong sounds, traditional rituals and colorful costumes, evoking the depth of Muong history and culture.
The closing ceremony was held on the afternoon of November 23 at the ethnic villages area III. The program included activities to summarize activities, award prizes and recognize the contributions of participating delegations.
In parallel with the ceremony, a series of activities to introduce and promote traditional Muong ethnic culture took place continuously for three days, recreating the Muong cultural space through artifacts, house architecture models, costumes, musical instruments, crafts and local specialties.
The public has the opportunity to explore traditional crafts such as brocade weaving, bamboo making, musical instrument making; enjoy folk songs, folk dances, gong performances and traditional costumes in the Mass Arts Festival. The program shows excerpts from festivals, cultural rituals recreating unique folk customs, creating a deeper experience for visitors.
Besides performances and displays, the photo exhibition "Muong ethnic people accompany the country's development" introduces 200 works of art, with 5 contents: The attention of the Party and State to the Muong ethnic people in particular and ethnic minorities in Vietnam in general; outstanding achievements in the process of preserving and promoting traditional cultural values of the Muong ethnic people; introducing the community of 54 ethnic groups in Vietnam in the great national unity bloc; introducing new era destinations - typical cultural and tourist sites of localities; introducing typical intangible cultural heritage values of localities in the festival space.
The topic "Characteristics of Muong ethnic culture in the cultural community of Vietnamese ethnic groups" displays and introduces traditional cultural spaces with handicrafts, costumes, farming tools and typical household items of Muong ethnic people.
Within the framework of the festival, the group of artisans will offer incense and pay their respects at the K9 relic site and participate in a series of activities to promote and introduce Muong ethnic culture in the space around Hoan Kiem Lake. In traditional costumes, the artisans and local actors will perform Muong gongs and other unique art performances, contributing to bringing Muong culture closer to the public and international tourists.
