
On the afternoon of November 6, at the regular press conference of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs , in response to a reporter's question about Vietnam's response to some worrying information that Vietnam could become a "hot spot" for online fraud activities, Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam Pham Thu Hang emphasized: "We do not comment on speculative questions. In recent times, in the face of the complicated developments of online fraud and cybercrime, Vietnam has completed the legal framework for telecommunications and cyber security management to create effective tools to prevent violations in cyberspace, aiming for a safe and transparent network environment for the people."
The spokesperson affirmed that Vietnam has clearly demonstrated its joint actions with the United Nations and its member states in the fight against cybercrime, which has been developing complicatedly in recent times, through the signing ceremony of the Hanoi Convention and recent high-level conferences. The Vietnamese and international press have also reported and commented on Vietnam's proactive pioneering, connecting and commitment in this activity.
At the same time, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, together with ministries, branches and functional agencies of Vietnam, are also actively exchanging with partner countries to establish cooperation mechanisms to improve the effectiveness of Vietnam's citizen protection work and more effectively combat organized crime and high-tech crime in other countries.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has directed Vietnamese representative agencies abroad to closely monitor the situation and prepare necessary plans, and coordinate closely with domestic and local agencies to promptly deploy citizen protection measures.
