Representatives of several Vietnamese publishers at the Frankfurt Book Fair 2025 had many discussions about copyright issues.

In the long term, Vietnam is aiming to perfect the provisions of the Intellectual Property Law to meet international commitments, but more importantly, to create an ideal copyright system, ensuring transparency and encouraging creativity. Thus, it must be a legal mechanism capable of harmonizing the interests of creative subjects, exploiting subjects and the community, contributing to promoting economic , cultural and social development.

The representative of the Copyright Office said that an ideal copyright system must be both consistent with international standards, such as the Berne Convention, the TRIPS Agreement or the WCT Treaty, and "Vietnamized" to meet domestic practical conditions. More importantly, that mechanism needs to ensure a fair distribution of benefits between authors, producers, distributors and consumers, while still maintaining reasonable exceptions so that the community can access knowledge, develop technology and innovate.

A panel discussion on the role of the younger generation with copyright in cyberspace.

Mr. Tran Hoang, Director of the Copyright Department, emphasized: Copyright must be closely linked to the development strategy of cultural industry, creative industry and digital economy and cannot be just a rigid legal framework. Specifically, that tool must be dynamic, accompanying creativity and national development.

From 2025, the Ministry of Science and Technology will preside over and coordinate with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and relevant agencies to develop a Law amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Law on Intellectual Property, aiming towards a future where the Law on Independent Copyright can be separated according to international practice. This is expected to be an important step for Vietnam to gradually build a solid copyright foundation, creating momentum for creative industries.

There, every literary work, song, film, design, application or video game... is an intellectual property and a special form of economic resource of the digital age. Copyright protection is therefore both to protect the author and to protect national cultural values and national competitiveness. In the strategy for developing Vietnam's cultural industry to 2030, with a vision to 2045, the State clearly identifies: Copyright is the pillar for creative industries.

The seminars attracted many young people with aspirations to contribute to the cultural industry.

For a creative market to operate transparently, first of all, the rights of creators must be respected. To achieve that, the formation of a complete copyright ecosystem, in which law, technology and social culture operate together is extremely important. Technology systems, such as: Artificial Intelligence, blockchain or big data... will play an increasingly important role in managing, monitoring and commercializing copyright, helping creators, especially young people, easily register, protect and exploit their works.

At conferences and seminars, experts believe that we should pay attention to the issue of when ideas can be commercialized, young businesses have the opportunity to bring products to domestic and foreign markets, and copyright. Thus, copyright does not stop at the scope of being a protection tool but becomes an economic launch pad. A strong creative culture must be built on the belief that creativity is respected, protected and brings legitimate benefits to the creator.

Today’s young creative generation of Vietnam is the central force in the knowledge and creative economy. From independent artists, designers, filmmakers, musicians, to technology entrepreneurs and the startup community... They are both sensitive to technology and possess the desire for integration, national spirit and love for Vietnamese culture, and are a potential force contributing to shaping the new face of Vietnamese identity in the digital space.

For the younger generation to reach their full potential, a real “launching pad” is needed. More importantly, society needs to form a culture that respects copyright. When creativity is honored and knowledge is valued, the younger generation will feel confident in pursuing the path of art, science and technology. Copyright, therefore, is also a measure of social trust in intelligence.

From Vietnamese cinema reaching out to the world, Vietnamese music gaining international attention, to the wave of technology startups with Vietnamese identity... all need a common roof that converges three factors: international standards, practicality, and future orientation. And in that future, the young generation will be the center, the main force in creating Vietnam's cultural industry on the foundation of knowledge and creativity.
