Joining the delegation was Major General Dam Xuan Tuan, Deputy Commander of the Vietnam Coast Guard.
Recently, the Command of Coast Guard Region 4 has implemented many drastic solutions, innovating propaganda work to prevent and combat illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing in visual and vivid forms, such as organizing mock trials, distributing leaflets and propaganda documents at fishing ports and wharves, contributing to raising awareness and responsibility of fishermen.
The unit has coordinated and exchanged more than 260 information sessions with cooperating forces and local authorities related to IUU prevention and control; promptly investigated and handled serious violations, and handed over documents to authorities.

In coordination work, the Coast Guard Region 4 Command maintained close relations with Naval Region 5, the Military Command of An Giang province, Border Guard Squadron 28 and local functional forces; effectively participated in the fourth bilateral conference on hotline communication with the Cambodian Forward Tactical Command, contributing to strengthening international coordination in the fight against IUU.
Identifying propaganda along with support, inspection and supervision as important solutions, law enforcement forces at sea have deployed many rich and effective forms of propaganda.
Officers and soldiers went to fishing ports, fish markets, and wharves to propagate laws, provide instructions on how to use vessel monitoring devices (VMS) and provide information on combating IUU, thereby raising awareness and creating positive public opinion in the fishing community about responsibilities and rights when complying with regulations.

The working delegation highly appreciated the results, creative ways and sense of responsibility of officers and soldiers of Coast Guard Region 4 Command in performing the task of preventing and combating IUU fishing in recent times.
Activities are deployed comprehensively, synchronously, with focus and key points, promoting the effectiveness of propaganda, inspection, supervision, and coordination with functional forces and coastal localities.

During the peak month, propaganda work was promoted, combined with the application of information technology and digital transformation; the Command of Coast Guard Region 4 coordinated with the Border Guard to strictly control ships entering and leaving the port, coordinated smoothly, handled violations quickly, correctly, and effectively, and prevented hot spots from arising.

The working delegation requested that in the coming time, the Command of Coast Guard Region 4 continue to improve the quality and effectiveness of legal propaganda for fishermen, patrol, inspect, control, manage, and closely monitor fishing vessels operating at sea, resolutely and strictly handle violations, aiming to remove the "yellow card" of the European Commission (EC) in a sustainable manner.
