While Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, General Oleksandr Syrskyi, continue to “firmly” assert that the situation in Pokrovsk remains stable, Russian media claim that the Russian Armed Forces (RFAF) are close to completing the complete capture of the city.

It is worth noting that the information of the Russian media, which was also publicly announced by Ukrainian servicemen with direct knowledge of the situation on the Pokrovsk-Mirnograd front, and the fact that the RFAF encirclement of these two urban areas is complete.

An officer of the motorized infantry brigade of the Ukrainian Army (AFU), stationed in Pokrovsk for more than a year, in a conversation with a journalist from the French newspaper Le Monde, predicted that the fate of the city's defense will be decided in the next few days, at most two weeks.

During this time, Pokrovsk will fall and be completely under the control of the Russian army. The Ukrainian military officer also blamed the AFU General Staff for the mistakes that helped the Russian Army to surround the city.

“The city has been without electricity for weeks now and for days now the city has been completely isolated. Not a single vehicle can pass through,” the Ukrainian officer lamented.

The Ukrainian officer also said that, given the size of the city of Pokrovsk, the presence of numerous high-rise buildings and industrial facilities with "thick walls", the AFU garrison could hold the line here for several months, if not years.

However, this is a somewhat “blaming” comment, because if the Ukrainian defense relied on high-rise buildings, the RFAF would have had a special weapon, the heavy FAB bomb. In that time, or even much faster, this entire “fortress”, as the Ukrainian officer called it, would have been destroyed brick by brick to the maximum depth.

And the RFAF is not lacking in these, as another Ukrainian marine officer, speaking to Le Monde, complained that the RFAF has a threefold advantage in terms of troops and UAVs. “In just a few days, the Russians have penetrated into every area. Their resources seem endless,” said a Ukrainian marine.

Over the past 24 hours, 64 buildings have been taken over by Russian forces in the Pokrovsk municipality, the villages of Gnativka and Rih. Two soldiers of the 68th Jaeger Brigade of the AFU have laid down their arms and surrendered. Thirteen AFU attacks from the Grishino area, aimed at relieving the Ukrainian defense units, have been repelled.

Meanwhile, three attempts by the 425th Assault Regiment of the AFU to break out of the encirclement to the north were thwarted. In the Myrnohrad municipality, active offensive operations are underway in the direction of the Zapadny district, with 19 buildings under the control of Russian troops. Over the past 24 hours, more than 200 Ukrainian troops have been eliminated.

Despite the lack of orders to retreat from above, the Ukrainian defenders in the city are trying to get out of the "Pokrovsk cauldron" on their own, using dirt roads, trails and open fields; but this is not an easy task.

Footage of the Ukrainian army withdrawing from the city of Pokrovsk has been posted online. A Russian reconnaissance drone spotted a column of Ukrainian troops withdrawing from Pokrovsk in a single line, and as the Ukrainian troops reached the interception area, RFAF mortars opened fire.

According to the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), the RFAF has achieved significant successes in Pokrovsk. More than 10,000 troops from 10 different brigades and several special forces units, along with a number of Ukrainian mercenaries, volunteers and war correspondents, are trapped in a "cauldron" in the Pokrovsk-Myrnohrad urban area.

However, ISW’s information has been met with criticism. For example, on November 4, the Russian Telegram channel “NgP raZVedka” (with 113,000 subscribers) disputed this information, stating, “The information currently circulating about a group of 10,000 Ukrainian troops trapped in the Pokrovsk region is an exaggeration.

At the time of the chaotic attempts to withdraw from Pokrovsk, according to our information, about 6,000 troops from various AFU units were trapped in the encirclement. Now, due to fire from FPV UAVs, FAB UMPK bombs and RFAF artillery, as well as the escape of Ukrainian troops, this number has significantly decreased,” the quote ends.

Ukrainian analytical source DeepState has noted the RFAF’s advance in several areas and the deteriorating situation for Ukrainian defenders. For example, the source confirmed that RFAF units have advanced into the Pokrovsk and Myrnohrad regions, where fierce fighting for control of key positions continues.
