This move has sparked rumors that the Prelude will be distributed in Vietnam in the near future. This is considered a reasonable step for Honda, especially after the company announced that it would stop accepting orders for the Civic Type R - a high-performance model that plays an iconic role in its product range. If brought to the South, the Prelude will likely fill the gap left by the Civic Type R, but in a more refined and “down-to-earth” way. The car is equipped with an e:HEV hybrid powertrain with a combination of a 2.0L gasoline engine and an electric motor, producing 200 horsepower.
The car shares its chassis with the Civic Type R but has been tweaked to suit a more grand tourer style. Currently, Thailand is the first Southeast Asian market to welcome the Honda Prelude, although the company has not yet announced an official price. In Japan, the Honda Prelude is priced at 6.179 million yen (about 1.05 billion VND). If distributed in Vietnam, the car's price is rumored to be over 3 billion VND, competing with the Subaru BRZ, BMW 430i Convertible or Porsche 718 Cayman. The domestic car market currently has a number of notable 2-door sports car models such as the Porsche 718 Cayman/Boxster duo priced from 3.95 billion VND, BMW 430i Convertible priced at 3.399 billion VND or Subaru BRZ with a lower price of only 1.609 billion VND.
The interior continues the “Unlimited Glide” philosophy with a minimalist yet sporty design. The interior has two color options: blue-white and blue-black, featuring front seats embroidered with the “Prelude” logo, a specially designed dashboard, along with details such as honeycomb air-conditioning vents, contrasting stitching, a soft-covered dashboard and an extended liftback luggage compartment. One notable point is that the Prelude is equipped with a push-button gear lever - inspired by the previous generation NSX model - and the S+ driving mode is retained on the commercial version, allowing the simulation of sound and torque response like a real gearbox, providing a sportier driving experience. Notable features on the 2026 Honda Prelude include a push-button digital control cluster, a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment display, a fully digital instrument panel, and a three-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel. The car is arranged in a 2 + 2 seat configuration, increasing convenience compared to a traditional coupe.
In terms of exterior, the 2026 Honda Prelude has a prominent front end with sharp headlights integrated with an "L" shaped LED strip, combined with a horizontal LED strip at the front of the car. The front bumper with a central air vent in the form of a honeycomb mesh creates a strong highlight. The body retains some of the features from the previous generation Prelude, such as compact side mirrors, hidden door handles and sporty multi-spoke alloy wheels. The roof slopes smoothly towards the rear, the rear of the car is equipped with seamless LED taillights, a spoiler, a black rear bumper and a sporty diffuser.
