Toyota 4Runner 2026 launched, on sale with starting price from 1.08 billion VND

The 2026 Toyota 4Runner officially went on sale in the US this fall, starting at $41,570 (more than VND 1.08 billion), an increase of $800 compared to the previous generation.

After 15 years, the Toyota 4Runner SUV has entered the next generation with a new frame, a longer wheelbase, and new engines, including a hybrid for the first time. Despite a complete refresh in the previous generation, the 2026 4Runner is virtually unchanged in appearance.

The most notable upgrade is the option to disconnect the stabilizer bar - a technology that helps the wheels grip the road better when going off-road, now available for the TRD Off-Road Premium version with the i-Force Max hybrid powertrain.

The base SR5 is still positioned as a durable, everyday option. It comes with LED lights, a black roof rack, and 17-inch alloy wheels. The cabin features an 8-inch central display, a 7-inch instrument cluster, and an 8-speaker audio system.

Although it doesn't have many luxury amenities, Toyota still fully equips the Safety Sense safety package including driver assistance features such as active cruise control, lane keeping, forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, blind spot warning and traffic sign recognition.

In the high-end segment, the 4Runner TRD Pro continues to assert its leading position with a series of high-end off-road equipment and amenities such as Rigid LED fog lights, grille with integrated LED strip, underbody protection, sports exhaust, hands-free tailgate and 18-inch matte black wheels.

The cabin is upgraded with a heated steering wheel, heated and ventilated front seats, wireless charging, a digital rearview mirror, a 14-inch central screen and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster.

The TRD Pro is also the only variant to feature the i-Force Max hybrid powertrain, which produces 326 horsepower and 630 Nm of torque, with standard 4-wheel drive and an 8-speed automatic transmission.

The remaining versions of the 2026 4Runner are equipped with a 2.4L 4-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine, producing 278 horsepower and 429 Nm of torque, combined with an 8-speed automatic transmission. 4-wheel drive is still optional.

The remaining versions do not have major upgrades, but the prices have increased by an average of about 800 USD (about 21 million VND). The TRD Pro version alone has a new price of 67,900 USD (1.78 billion VND), a little more than 1,000 USD (26.32 million VND).

Toyota has not yet announced plans to distribute the 2026 4Runner outside the US market, nor has it revealed more information about future expansion versions.
