In the first 10 months of 2025, the total number of international visitors reached nearly 17.2 million, an increase of 21.5% over the same period last year.
Of which, passengers traveling by air still dominated with 14.6 million arrivals, equivalent to 84.9% and an increase of 21.8%. Passengers by road reached 2.4 million arrivals (13.9%), an increase of 21.4%, while passengers by sea reached 205,100 arrivals (1.2%), an increase of 8.5%.

Revenue from accommodation and catering services in the first 10 months of 2025 is estimated at VND 695.1 trillion, up 14.6%.
Some localities with high growth rates include Ho Chi Minh City (+18.1%), Da Nang (+16.1%), Can Tho (+12.8%), Hanoi (+12.2%) and Hai Phong (+11.8%).
China and South Korea remained the two largest markets sending visitors with 4.3 million and 3.6 million arrivals respectively. They were followed by Taiwan (China) with 1 million arrivals, the US with 685,000 arrivals and Japan with 679,000 arrivals.
Based on the growth momentum after the COVID-19 pandemic, in early 2025, the Vietnamese tourism industry aims to welcome 22 - 23 million international visitors a year.
By August 2025, the Government issued Resolution No. 226/NQ-CP on growth targets for industries, sectors, and localities and key tasks and solutions to ensure the country's economic growth reaches 8.3 - 8.5%. Accordingly, the Government assigned the tourism industry to strive to reach at least 25 million international visitors in 2025.
According to Mr. Vu The Binh, Chairman of the Vietnam Tourism Association, to attract more international visitors, the tourism industry needs to focus on two main solutions. First of all, it is necessary to promote digital communication and increase promotion on online platforms to promote the image of Vietnamese tourism to the world, with special attention to key markets and emerging potential markets.
At the same time, it is necessary to prioritize direct promotion activities with international travel businesses through organizing survey groups (Famtrips), introducing new tourism products and services, thereby encouraging partners to bring tourists to Vietnam in 2025 and the following years.
