At the meeting, Vice Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Ngoc Phuc gave an overview of the potential and strengths of Lam Dong - the locality with the largest natural area in the country, a population of over 3.8 million people, and a gateway connecting the green Central Highlands with the South Central Coast. With an increasingly complete transportation system, Lam Dong is oriented to develop based on three pillars: high-tech agriculture, eco-cultural tourism and green processing industry.

With Jizzakh province's interest in the silk industry, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee affirmed that Lam Dong is the locality with the largest mulberry area in the country with over 10,000 hectares of mulberry. More than 17,000 silkworm raising households, many silk reeling and silk weaving facilities have accumulated technology over many generations, and are transforming towards modernization, standardizing the quality of fibers, environmentally friendly dyes and traceability. The system of silk reeling, silk weaving and silk, fiber and fabric export facilities brings in significant turnover.

However, the sericulture industry also faces many challenges such as not being able to fully self-sufficient in high-quality silkworm breeds, the value chain linkage is not yet tight, deep processing and fabric finishing are still limited, and the level of mechanization and digital transformation in production is still modest.

The delegation of Jizzakh provincial government highly appreciated the warm welcome of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee. Mr. Ruzieb Zafar Sharopovich, Vice Chairman of Jizzakh Provincial Administration Committee and Director of the Department of Agriculture also informed about the strengths of the region - a key area for cotton, mulberry and automobile production in Uzbekistan.
Jizzakh provincial authorities expressed their hope for opportunities for cooperation and experience exchange between experts and businesses of the two provinces, especially issues related to mulberry cultivation, silkworm breeding and silk processing, as well as cold-water and freshwater fish farming on a garden and household scale.

At the end of the working session, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Ngoc Phuc requested relevant departments and branches to develop a plan to survey and learn about the Uzbekistan market in general and Jizzakh province in particular; thereby, introducing and promoting typical products of Lam Dong such as vegetables, flowers, coffee, tea, cocoa, etc.

At the same time, we hope that the Jizzakh provincial government will support and provide specific advice on time and quantity of goods to facilitate promoting cooperation and exchange relationships in the coming time.
