Vietnamese billiard player Nguyen Nhu Le won a ticket to the third qualifying round of the Gwangju Billiards World Cup in a thrilling scenario, when he took advantage of the last shot of the match to win the series and eliminate his opponent.

On November 4, the Gwangju 2025 Billiards World Cup is taking place in Korea in the second qualifying round. This round has 5 Vietnamese players competing: Nguyen Nhu Le, Nguyen Dinh Luan, Nguyen Tran Thanh Tao, Nguyen Van Tai and Dinh The Vinh. These are all quality players, but only Nguyen Nhu Le showed stability and exploded at the right time to win a ticket to the third qualifying round.

Nguyen Nhu Le is in Group O with Takao Miyashita (Japan) and Kim Min-suk (South Korea). Nguyen Van Tai is in Group P with Alexander Salazar (Colombia) and Carlos Anguita (Spain). But then, the Vietnamese player faced a big challenge in the deciding match, when he faced Takao Miyashita.

If she lost this match, Nhu Le would definitely be eliminated. When it seemed like the Vietnamese representative would have to stop, Nhu Le created a surprise in the back kick. Nguyen Nhu Le exploded at the right time with a series of 9s, thereby achieving a 30-30 draw against Takao Miyashita.

With this result, Nguyen Nhu Le has a record of 1 win and 1 draw, ranking first in the table with an average efficiency of 1.621 (scoring 60 points in 37 innings). Takao Miyashita also has a record of 1 win and 1 draw but only ranks second in the table because of a lower secondary index (scoring 60 points in 39 innings, efficiency of 1.538).

Expected players like Nguyen Van Tai, Dinh The Vinh (both with 1 win, 1 loss), Nguyen Tran Thanh Tao (1 draw, 1 loss) could not continue. Nguyen Dinh Luan was eliminated with 2 losses.

The third qualifying round of the Gwangju Billiards World Cup 2025 took place on November 5, with the participation of 5 Vietnamese players: Nguyen Hoan Tat, Nguyen Chi Long, Le Thanh Tien, Thon Viet Hoang Minh and Nguyen Nhu Le.
