Nguyen Tran Thanh Tao continued to show good form, passing the first qualifying round of the Gwangju 2025 Billiards World Cup with a perfect record.

Two Vietnamese players passed the first qualifying round of the Gwangju Billiards World Cup.

The Gwangju 2025 Billiards World Cup in Korea kicked off on November 3 with the first qualifying round. In this round, 6 Vietnamese players will take the field, including: Truong Huynh Quoc Dat, Pham Van Son, Do Nguyen Trung Hau, Nguyen Huu Thanh, Dinh The Vinh, Nguyen Tran Thanh Tao. Of which, 2 Vietnamese players won tickets to the next round, Thanh Tao and The Vinh. Both of these athletes had a perfect record in the first qualifying round.

Nguyen Tran Thanh Tao is in Group I with Yehia Adham (Egypt) and Song Sock-kyu (South Korea). Nguyen Tran Thanh Tu's younger brother beat Yehia Adham 30-6, before defeating Song Sock-kyu 30-16.

Thanh Tao ranked 3rd in the list of players who passed the first qualifying round to qualify for the second qualifying round. The Vietnamese player scored 60 points in 40 turns, achieving an average efficiency of 1.500.

Nguyen Tran Thanh Tao has been in stable form recently.

Dinh The Vinh is in the group of Park Sang-jun (Korea) and Turan Halis (Türkiye). In the opening match, The Vinh defeated Turan Halis with a score of 30-15. In the decisive match, the Vietnamese player won a dramatic victory over Park Sang-jun with a score of 30-28.

Nguyen Huu Thanh had a record of 1 win, 1 loss and only finished second in the group, so he could not pass the first qualifying round. Meanwhile, Do Nguyen Trung Hau (1 draw, 1 loss), Truong Huynh Quoc Dat (2 losses) and Pham Van Son (2 losses) all stopped early.

The second qualifying round of the Gwangju Billiards World Cup 2025 took place on November 4. In this round, Vietnam has 5 players competing: Nguyen Nhu Le, Nguyen Dinh Luan, Nguyen Tran Thanh Tao, Nguyen Van Tai and Dinh The Vinh.

The second qualifying round has 48 players participating, divided into 16 groups (3 players each). The players play a round robin to calculate points and rank. The top 16 players in each group will qualify for the third qualifying round.
