The penultimate stage of the 2025 Billiards World Cup under the International Carom Billiards Federation (UMB) system will be held in Gwangju - Korea from November 3 to 9. This time, Vietnamese billiards will participate with a strong lineup, with up to 19 players participating. Besides top names such as Tran Quyet Chien, Bao Phuong Vinh, Tran Thanh Luc, Chiem Hong Thai, faces that are still quite new to fans in the international arena such as Nguyen Tran Thanh Tao, Nguyen Nhu Le, Truong Huynh Quoc Dat, Pham Van Son, Nguyen Huu Thanh, Dinh The Vinh... also came to the land of kimchi to try their hand.

On the morning of November 2, many Vietnamese players arrived in Korea, before entering the preparation process for the Gwangju Billiards World Cup on November 3. On the opening day of the competition (November 3), 6 Vietnamese players will take the field in the first qualifying round including: Truong Huynh Quoc Dat, Pham Van Son, Do Nguyen Trung Hau, Nguyen Huu Thanh, Dinh The Vinh, Nguyen Tran Thanh Tao.

Vietnam Billiards participated in the Gwangju Billiards World Cup with a strong force, up to 19 players. Among them, Tran Quyet Chien was given special privileges.

The first qualifying round has 48 players competing, divided equally into 16 groups (3 players each). The players compete in a round robin to calculate points and rank. Accordingly, the top 16 players in each group will qualify for the second qualifying round.

When did Tran Quyet Chien go to battle?

Tran Quyet Chien and Tran Thanh Luc are in the top 14 on the UMB rankings, so they are in the top seed group and have special permission to appear from the final round (round of 32 players). After 4 days of qualifying (from November 3 to 6), the final round has determined all candidates and will start competing on November 7. Quyet Chien and Thanh Luc will have until November 7 to compete at the Gwangju Billiards World Cup - Korea.

The group and opponents of the two top Vietnamese players have also been determined. Tran Quyet Chien is in group C with Martin Horn (Germany) and Choi Wan-young (Korea). Meanwhile, Tran Thanh Luc is in group F with Tolgahan Kiraz (Turkey).

In the final round of each World Cup leg, 32 players are divided equally into 8 groups. Players who are ranked as seed or have wildcard spots will appear in the group. The remaining names are determined after the 4 qualifying rounds are finished.

The Vietnamese players who will be playing in the fourth qualifying round of the Gwangju World Cup are: Nguyen Tran Thanh Tu, Dao Van Ly, Chiem Hong Thai and Bao Phuong Vinh. Van Ly has already confirmed an opponent, in the same group G with the legendary Torbjorn Blomdahl (Sweden). Thanh Tu will now face Sergio Jimenez (Spain).
