Strengthening scientific cooperation between Vietnam and Azerbaijan

At the invitation of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS), from November 2-5, 2025, a delegation of the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences (VASS) led by Vice President Ta Minh Tuan visited and worked in Azerbaijan on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of ANAS.

According to a VNA correspondent in Europe, at a working session with ANAS President Isa Habibbayli and his colleagues on November 2, VASS Vice President Ta Minh Tuan thanked the ANAS leadership for their warm welcome and emphasized that this visit has special significance, contributing to establishing a foundation for strong cooperation between the two agencies, especially in the context of Vietnam and Azerbaijan having just officially upgraded their relationship to a Strategic Partnership after the State visit of General Secretary To Lam and his wife in May 2025.

For his part, Academician Isa Habibbayli respectfully thanked the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences for sending a delegation to attend the 80th Anniversary of ANAS, considering this a vivid demonstration of the increasingly developing friendship and cooperation between the two Academies.

The two sides agreed to soon develop and sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation focusing on promoting expert exchanges, implementing joint research programs, co-organizing international conferences, and publishing scientific publications in areas of mutual interest. These activities will contribute to enhancing academic exchanges, sharing knowledge and research experience, and opening up new prospects for cooperation in the coming time.

On this occasion, VASS Vice President Ta Minh Tuan respectfully invited Academician Isa Habibbayli and ANAS colleagues to visit and work in Vietnam.

Also within the framework of the working trip, the VASS delegation attended the 80th Anniversary of ANAS held on November 3-4 in the capital Baku. President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev attended and delivered a congratulatory speech, highly appreciating the great contributions of ANAS to the development of science, technology and culture of Azerbaijan.

On behalf of VASS, Vice President Ta Minh Tuan delivered a congratulatory speech, expressing his honor to attend this important event marking 8 decades of sustainable development of ANAS. Mr. Ta Minh Tuan affirmed that ANAS is a symbol of knowledge and innovation, a place where many generations of excellent scientists converge, making great contributions to shaping the scientific and cultural identity of Azerbaijan as well as enhancing the country's position in the international arena. Vice President of VASS expressed his belief that in the context of the two countries strengthening the Strategic Partnership, the cooperation between the two Academies will become increasingly substantive and effective, contributing to promoting academic exchanges and enhancing understanding between the two peoples.

During their visit to Azerbaijan, the delegation participated in many meaningful activities such as offering flowers at the Monument to the Azerbaijani Martyrs, planting souvenir trees, and meeting and exchanging with representatives of academies and research institutions from Kazakhstan, Georgia, Bulgaria, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Türkiye and many other countries.
