[Photo] The road connecting Dong Nai with Ho Chi Minh City is still unfinished after 5 years of construction.
The Huong Lo 2 road project - section 1 is nearly 2km long, aiming to connect the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway, contributing to shortening the travel distance from Dong Nai to Ho Chi Minh City and reducing the load on National Highway 51. Although the route is less than 2km long, after nearly 5 years of construction, it has not been completed yet.

Huong Lo 2 Project - Section 1 has a length of nearly 2km, the starting point of the route intersects with National Highway 51 and the end point of the route intersects with An Hoa - Long Hung road.
The project has a total investment capital including construction costs and site clearance of more than 780 billion VND from the budget. This is one of the key projects of Dong Nai province, the road started construction at the end of 2020.
The route includes construction items of the road section, drainage system, reinforced concrete bridge section and lighting system. In particular, the main road section is 25m wide, the median strip is 3m wide, the parallel road on each side is 8m wide, the median strip on each side is 2.75m wide, the sidewalk on each side is 2m wide, the roadbed is 54m wide. In addition, there are intersections on the route. By the end of 2024, the project had completed more than 1.3km from National Highway 51. The remaining problems were the clearance of households in the An Hoa 2 bridge section and the end of the route, causing the construction unit to temporarily stop for a while. After that, the authorities focused on clearing the households' land to hand over to the construction unit. Currently, for package 5 including An Hoa 2 bridge and the final 250m route, more than 90% of the contract volume has been completed. Of which, An Hoa 2 bridge has completed pouring the concrete deck, and is deploying expansion joints and installing bridge railings.
For the last part of the 250m route in Long Hung ward, construction is underway, including filling the foundation, leveling the slope, and digging the base of the slope tray. The National Highway 51 intersection has completed construction of the road expansion and asphalt concrete connecting to Huong Lo 2. Currently, many vehicles have traveled from National Highway 51 to Huong Lo 2. It is expected that Huong Lo 2 Project - Section 1 will complete the entire project in November 2025 and be accepted and put into use at the end of 2025. The route is still very messy.
Many concrete culverts are located along the road near the intersection with Highway 51. Grass growing in the lighting area on the road. People living near the area have been traveling on Highway 2. Huong Lo 2 - Section 1, from National Highway 51 to the intersection with An Hoa - Long Hung Road, will be completed and put into use by the end of 2025. However, Section 2 of Huong Lo 2, connecting from the border of Long Hung Ward to Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway, has not been constructed yet. Currently, relevant units are carrying out investment procedures. Regarding the Vam Cai Sut Bridge Construction Project on Huong Lo 2 Road, construction was completed in December 2024 and accepted for use in July 2025. However, currently, the bridgehead from Tam Phuoc Ward to Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh Dau Giay Expressway has no connecting road, so the Vam Cai Sut Bridge cannot be used effectively.
The entire Huong Lo 2 route has a length of 17km, considered one of the few major routes capable of undertaking the mission of fundamentally removing the "bottlenecks" in traffic infrastructure, serving travel activities in Bien Hoa city (old), Dong Nai province, especially shortening the distance and travel time in the direction of the route to Ho Chi Minh City, while contributing significantly to reducing traffic volume on National Highway 51, which has been severely degraded due to overload. However, first of all, the main function of this route is to connect urban areas along the Dong Nai River.
