The simple happiness of people in disadvantaged areas.

Today, Mr. Khong Minh Tao, 72 years old, residing in Phu Trung, Phu Rieng commune (formerly Binh Phuoc province, now part of Dong Nai province), was brought by his family to the commune's Cultural Center to receive a medical examination, medication, and gifts from the "Careme – Screening for cardiovascular, kidney, and metabolic diseases" program.

After the admission procedures and blood tests, Mr. Tao was examined by Dr. Tran Thi Tuyet, who ordered an ultrasound. With the results in hand, Dr. Tuyet then prescribed medication for Mr. Tao.

Having just received the medicine included in the gift bag, Mr. Tạo was immediately offered a light snack by the People's Committee of the commune. Earlier, in their invitation, the local authorities had advised Mr. Tạo not to eat breakfast so that the hematology test results would be accurate.

"I'm so happy. Today, I received attention from the commune authorities, a medical examination from the doctors, and gifts from the Health Department. I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude," Mr. Tao said excitedly.

Mr. Tạo was one of over 1,000 residents who received free health checkups, blood tests, ultrasounds, consultations, and medication as part of the program. After the checkups, residents also received gifts and light meals, demonstrating the thoughtful care of the local government and volunteer doctors and nurses.

Community Health Day

Within the grounds of the Phu Rieng Commune Cultural Center's gymnasium, dozens of examination tables were arranged systematically, providing continuous service from early morning. Doctors from Thong Nhat Hospital, the Military Medical Academy, the Central Dental and Maxillofacial Hospital of Ho Chi Minh City, Viet Duc Hospital, Binh Phuoc General Hospital, etc., along with nurses, technicians, and youth union members, worked diligently to ensure that the local people had access to quality medical services and received gifts and medicine according to the program's plan.

Approximately 10 mobile ultrasound rooms have also been set up to perform paraclinical tests as directed by doctors, ensuring a complete examination, diagnosis, and consultation process for each individual.

Besides screening for cardiovascular, kidney, and metabolic diseases, distributing medicine, and giving gifts to needy people, the program also awards scholarships of 1 million VND to primary and secondary school students, and scholarships of 10 million VND to college and university students in health-related fields from disadvantaged families.

In addition, the program also donated 500 million VND to help 10 children with congenital heart disease have the opportunity to undergo surgery and return to a normal life like other children their age. Notably, the program also organized visits and presented gifts to two families of martyrs in Phu Rieng district.

According to a representative of the Vietnam Young Doctors Association, the total cost of the program is approximately 2.4 billion VND. This is a contribution from benevolent organizations and businesses that have long supported the Vietnamese health sector in its mission to care for the health of the people.

Spread love

Speaking at the program, Permanent Deputy Minister of Health Vu Manh Ha said that the Ministry of Health is committed to promoting the improvement of the quality of medical examination and treatment, with people's satisfaction at the center; promoting digital transformation in the health sector, in order to bring modern medical services closer to every citizen, especially in disadvantaged areas.

"Providing healthcare for the people – especially those in remote and disadvantaged areas – has always been a top priority for the health sector. It is from this spirit that today's medical examination and treatment program carries the meaning of spreading love, sharing difficulties, and fulfilling the mission of 'leaving no one behind' in healthcare," Deputy Minister Vu Manh Ha emphasized.

According to Deputy Minister of Health Vu Manh Ha, the cardiovascular, kidney, and metabolic disease screening program in Phu Rieng demonstrates the sense of responsibility and community solidarity of the entire society. At the same time, the program also reflects the youthful energy, enthusiasm, and pioneering spirit of the young generation in the medical field – those who are undeterred by difficulties and shouldering the noble responsibilities entrusted to them by the Party, the State, and the health sector.

In particular, I would like to acknowledge and thank the sponsors and organizations that have joined hands and contributed to the health sector in this humane journey. This joint effort is a vivid embodiment of the tradition of 'drinking water, remembering the source' that the Vietnamese people always cherish and preserve," Deputy Minister Vu Manh Ha shared.

According to Dr. Ha Anh Duc, Director of the Department of Medical Examination and Treatment Management and President of the Vietnam Young Doctors Association, the Association has been strongly promoting the spirit of "Wherever there is a need, young doctors are there; wherever there are difficulties, young doctors are there." In particular, young frontline medical professionals are also the core of the digital transformation in healthcare, from implementing electronic health records and electronic medical records to telemedicine models, contributing to bringing healthcare closer to every citizen and demonstrating the dedication of the young generation of Vietnamese doctors – those who are not only highly skilled professionally but also always devoted to the community.
