At the end of the trading session on November 5, the price of SJC gold bars was listed at 145.5-147.5 million VND/tael (buy - sell), down 700,000 VND/tael for buying and selling compared to the previous session.
Gold rings are listed at 142.7-145.2 million VND/tael (buy - sell), also down 700,000 VND/tael each way compared to the previous session. Some other major brands trade gold rings at higher prices, fluctuating between 143.5-147.8 million VND/tael (buy - sell).
World gold price is 20.5 million VND/tael lower than domestic price
In the world, the spot gold price is at 3,981 USD/ounce. Converted according to Vietcombank 's USD exchange rate, the world gold price is at 127 million VND/tael including taxes and fees. The world price is about 20.5 million VND/tael lower than the domestic gold price. Previously, the difference was up to 21.5 million VND/tael.
The world gold price has recovered from the previous plunge. However, this commodity is under great selling pressure at the threshold of 4,000 USD/ounce. In recent weeks, the gold price has continuously failed to surpass this level.
Although gold is attracting some bargain hunters as it holds initial support above $3,900 an ounce, some analysts believe the metal could face selling pressure in the next 1-2 months. Investors are still waiting for signals from the US Federal Reserve (Fed).
USD price anchored at high level
The US dollar continued to maintain around a five-month high against a basket of major currencies in the trading session on November 5 (US time), as newly released economic data showed that the US economy and labor market remained resilient.
Domestically, the State Bank announced the central exchange rate of the Vietnamese Dong to the USD increased by 2 VND, currently at 25,097 VND.
The reference USD exchange rate at the State Bank's buying and selling exchange center increased slightly, currently listed at 23,893-26,301 VND.
