Samsung was the pioneer in the ultra-thin smartphone segment when it launched the Galaxy S25 Edge, its thinnest phone ever at just 5.8mm thick. Apple quickly responded by introducing the iPhone Air in September, which is just 5.6mm thick.
Recently, it was Huawei's turn to join the ultra-thin smartphone market segment with a product called Mate 70 Air, which stands out thanks to its thickness of only 6.6mm, becoming Huawei's thinnest smartphone ever.

Despite its slim design, the Huawei Mate 70 Air is still equipped with a large capacity battery (Photo: Huawei).
Although the Mate 70 Air is thicker than the Galaxy S25 Edge and iPhone Air, in return, this phone is equipped with a battery capacity of up to 6,500mAh, 1.6 times larger than the 3,900mAh battery of the Galaxy S25 Edge and 2 times larger than the 3,149mAh battery on the iPhone Air. The product supports 66W fast charging, 5W reverse wireless charging to charge other devices.
The reason Huawei can equip its product with a large capacity battery while still ensuring thinness is because this smartphone uses Silicon Carbon technology battery, an upgraded variant of Lithium-ion, allowing for larger energy storage without increasing battery size.
The Mate 70 Air also packs a full camera system in its ultra-thin body, including a 50-megapixel main camera, a 12-megapixel telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom (both lenses support optical image stabilization), and an 8-megapixel wide-angle camera.
In terms of configuration, Mate 70 Air is equipped with a 7-inch screen (2760 x 1320), inside is the option of Kirin 9020A chip (with 12GB RAM) or Kirin 9020B (with 16GB RAM) developed by Huawei. However, the parameters of this chip have not been revealed by Huawei.
